Spock raised a slight eyebrow. A instinctive reaction to human misunderstanding. Mostly though he stood still like a rock looking at Kirk with his trademark calmness, just sitting back in his desk chair half paying attention to him and half paying attention to reports on his computer monitor over the Enterprise refit's status. Something needed after the recent tragic trip through the Galactic Barrier.

"Sir I do not resist the idea of Dr Piper leaving. My voice of concern of replacing him with Dr Leonard McCoy is not one of emotional attachment and fear of change. It's one of a more professional concern. I have read reports that he may express racist views towards Vulcans and also has a arrest record. On Risa he was taken in by local authority over public intoxication."

Spock notice KIrk make what he heard humans call making a devilish grin at the "pubic intoxication" report and then notice his grin flip to a flat out smile towards Spock and then say 'There is more to that story Spock then you will find in his career bio"

KIrk got up and stretched. He had been in that chair staring at that monitor for hours. Then he moved around the table and went over to a cabinet on the far wall and opened the middle drawer and pulled out a bottle of water and took a swallow. "I know him well Spock" He saved my dad's life once when he was just a fresh young pup, straight out of medical school when they were serving together on the Kelvin."

"As for the racist stuff that is just plain bullshit Spock. I know the man and I have come to know his heart a great deal over the years." Kirk put the bottle of water back in the drawer and closed it. "As for the Risa incident that was because he had just gotten out of a tough marriage and was newly divorced. I actually took him their to help him get over the pain. It was a very bad divorce. A child was involved.

KIrk made the smile again. "Only reason I didn't get arrested myself was because I was being" KIik paused, almost for effect, " engaged in local entertainment at the time." Kirk stated as his smile went to a almost most deadpan smirk.

There was time when even Spock couldn't deny his human side wanted to roll his eyes at human vanity and this was one of them but all he would only give a "indeed." to his friends love for the ladies and verbal double entendres.

"Anyways Spock you know the time. Midnight San Fran time. You might not have fun but if you give the guy a chance you might see in him what I do." Spock could only agree with the sentiment " I will endeavor to do so Captain." Spock then wondered to himself. What should I wear to the setting.

Spock showed up to KIrk's place wearing his standard dress uniform. Blue and with hardly a single crease. He almost knew for certain Jim would make fun of his clothing choice. The stuffy Vulcan being to series again stuff. Spock new the only logical thing would be to come with jokes but only the kind Vulcans could make in return. He knew his Human half loved this kind of banter and felt some shame for it but just some.

The door opened and the first thing he noticed was the sound of early 23rd century light Bolian Jazz music in the air. Shamar Magu being the artist of the particular music being played. Kirk looked happy to see Spock ""Good to see you. Spock. Nice outfit. Got one myself." Knew it! Uniform joke right out of the gate. Spock looked at what Kirk was wearing. Blue pants and a t-shirt and brown jacket. "Thank you sir. Might I add your t-shirt is a very good choice of choosing style over logic." Kirk noticed Kiirk look at him expecting Spock to grin or something but of course his friend would only be disappointed. Thankfully his friend couldn't see inside his brain at that moment. The part laughing that he loved was their but also ashamed as well.

Spock then moved over to the couch in the middle room and sat down and looked over to KIrk's gun collection on the wall and saw Leonard McCoy examining them while talking to Mr Scott. Both with drinks in their hands. Mr Scott with a scotch and soda and the Doctor with a Mint Julep. Spock's mind thought of the arrest on Risa but also remembered what the Captain said and put it out of his mind.

Kirk came and sit down on the edge of the couch also with a drink. A water. in hand. "Captain I am surprise to see you not enjoying a more celebratory drink." Kirk responded almost with a sigh. "The Doc has me on a diet. I got to get down 5 pounds. His going to be a real task master on this I am afraid." Spock responded "Sir if I remember Dr Piper issued the same health demand from you." Kirk point his finger back towards to good doctor McCoy" Difference is Bones likes to hover while I eat. It can be annoying when you just want a juicy steak and gin." Spock only said "Bones?"

The Captain laughed "NIckname Spock. Like Saw Bones or Medical Man" Spock had gathered as much He was about to say he understood only to see the talked about Doctor and Scotty walk over and sit on the second couch that was opposite of the one Spock was sitting on " I hope we didn't miss anything interesting while Scotty and me were looking at Jim's ancient murder weapons"

McCoy said it with a flat out bluntness that instantly took to Spock. He never understood Jim's interest in ancient earth projectile weapons either. Then he said another thing "So I guess your Mr Spock. The man who is to good to accept he has human emotions."

Spock eyes would have gone wide if he had allowed them "What did he just say ' he said but not out loud. Just to himself. The Doctor looked at him not with a smile but a genuine interest in what he was going to say.
