new creative team for star trek 3

It is been revealed with JJ directing the next star wars movie he might produce it but with paramount unwilling to wait another 4 years it is unlikely to direct. So there have been rumors that Joe Cornish or Edgar Wright could direct but now it is only rumors. Also theres a new interview from orci on trek web where he says that he may leave if someone better comes along so it could hapend that we could get a new director and writing staff for star trek 3. So what does everyone think about egdar wreight being the director or orci dropping out?

Humm... the new movies have been pretty successful so far. I hope they don't disturb the balance.

But who knows ? We could have some better scripts too.

Damon Lindelof also said he wasn't going to return. He's writing Tomorrowland for Disney and is also creating a new show for HBO.

While there is a pretty good possibility that Abrams himself won't be involved (at least not as director), Trek XIII will still be a Bad Robot production and therefore someone of his production team will still be overseeing it.

Do you have a link for any of this?

Latino Review’s El Mayimbe’s posted that Paramount’s ‘prospective director’ list for Star TreK XIII is “Attack the Block” writer/director Joe Cornish.

"I'm NOT saying Joe Cornish is the guy, but what I am saying is the he is definitely one of NUMEROUS contenders." El posted in his Twitter acoount.

This information is preliminary, of course, and entirely rumor.

J.J. Abrams is probably going to be too busy with Star Wars to direct a third Star Trek film, but how eager are you to be involved with it?

ORCI: Look, man, my uncle got me into Star Trek. I named the Kelvin, the very ship that Kirk was born on, after my uncle. To me, Star Trek is so important and I love it so much that it is very difficult to imagine other people working on it. Yet, if somebody has a better idea than I do, then they should be the ones handling Star Trek.

We’ve always said that we didn’t create Star Trek, that we don’t own Star Trek. It existed before us. I only want to be on Star Trek as long as I’m useful and helpful to what Star Trek is. The minute that I’m a burden on it, then I should not be here. I want the best idea to win.

Hopefully, if this movie works, Paramount will be thinking about a third movie and, if I have the best idea, I should win. If I don’t, someone else should win. That’s how much I love Star Trek. The best idea should win, period.

The interview doesn't indicate that Orci has any intention of stepping away from Trek, of course. Most likely the script will have been largely developed by the time Bad Robot and Paramount agree on a director for ST 3 - probably by Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof.

It is customary for the thread-starter to provide links to the articles or sources being referenced, and to quote pertinent passages therefrom, if appropriate. Without those, your opening post is lacking in substance; there's little more than a jumble of "It is[sic] been revealed" and "So there have been rumors" to go on.

Joe Cornish? I just looked up his resume on Wikipedia. He doesn't seem to have a lot of experience with big budget Hollywood movies. In fact, apart from the script for The Adventures of Tintin, with Steven Moffat, a while back, his CV is mostly comedy.

In the UK we know Joe Cornish as the public schoolboy partner of Adam Buxton in an odd assortment of childish, lewd or just plain weird comedy shows, often including nods to geeky fan favourites. Not the sort of idiot you'd let anywhere a major movie, yet decent low budget productions such as Attack The Block have got him involved in writing the Antman script for Marvel, and now...Trek ?

I think he'd have more of a feel for it than JJ and MAYBE take Trek III a little way back towards old style Trek - I would certainly prefer him to JJ.

Still, my gut reaction remains 'Joe - from Adam and Joe ? WTF ?'

I fear we'll hear 50 more candidate names until they decide what to do.
I won't start worrying about it yet.

Why "worry" at all? Just enjoy the ride. I think I get as much fun out of a "bad" ST movie on opening night as I do from a "great" one, and even if I think a particular movie is "bad", plenty of others think it's "good", and vice versa.

If ST can recover from "Plato's Stepchildren", "ST V: The Final Frontier", "Shades of Grey", "Threshold" and "Star Trek Nemesis", it can recover from anything.

Joe Cornish isn't going to get the job.
