I like Shona well enough, but I fear that if she "does a Donna" and shows up again becoming the next companion, that it'll be a little like Rose and Donna combined. She's got Donna's personality and rapport with the Doctor combined with Rose's social position in life.
I do feel bad for her every time I rewatch the special, though. She's obviously a lonely person, desperate for connections with people. She wanted to stay in the dream to escape her regular life, wanted to keep in contact with everyone, wanted to hang out with Clara and the Doctor...and when she woke, there was such an air of resignation.
I've been lonely myself. I know what that's like.
