New behind the scenes footage! (esurance's site and contest)

The trailer mixed with some B-roll footage with the bridge in the background in a couple of shots. Its certainly got me excited.

Oh and, er...there's a bloke in front of a fireplace on the competitions page :wtf:

:D

Cool.
Is that music from the movie or from some other film we hear in the interview segments?

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

I got some screencaps from the "new" stuff, where we see some of the bridge in the background

I've never heard it before. Sounds a bit TWOK mixed with a bit of John Williams.

Could it be from the movie?

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

^Thanks for saving me the trouble, SalvorHardin. In the caps of Pine the bridge looks Hugh!

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

Nice!

I'm so glad as we wind down to barely three months to the release date we're getting beaucoups of new footage to play around with.

I dunno, ive been looking at the caps now for a bit, and i can honestly say it looks more like a Frank rather than a Hugh. But thats just me. :techman:

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

That bridge looks absolutely great when it's not lit up like an operating theatre.

I guess we've yet to see how the bridge will look throughout much of the movie - there are a few scenes in ST:TMP, for example, where the bridge set is very brightly lit but most often it's more subdued.

The bridge set is big - one visitor described it as taking up much of a soundstage, although it doesn't look that big in any of these images.

However, if you look at the bridge playset and consider that the inner "ring" of outward-facing consoles is almost equivalent along the port-starboard axis to the diameter of the TOS bridge, it's as if they've added another outer ring of stations to Jefferies' bridge layout. I'd guess that the set may be at least fifty or sixty feet by thirty or forty feet, much larger than any previous bridge.

Considering the movie was originally scheduled to be released Christmas 2008, yeah, it could be.

I have to agree with you 120% there! Gives it a whole new mood.

Very true.

"Big"... "action"... "spectacle"... hmmm, makes me wonder...

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

Well that is making me look a little bit more forward to May. BTW, nice caps.

I also heard "wonderful characters"... "heart"... "emotion"... makes one wonder even more

Of course they have to say that... producers say that about every movie they make. "Saw V... great characters, amazing story!"

Seeing is believing of course, and from the evidence so far, I'm sure I'll be entertained and dazzled by big effects for two hours... will they capture the heart and soul of Trek... that's more of a long shot. I am cautiously optimistic though...

Re: New behind the scenes footage!

I wish they had an intimate bridge - more tension that way. But I guess he needed breadth and scope and room to position the camera.

Depends on how much he relies on shooting with long lenses. on SUPERNOVA, Walter Hill made a deliberate decision to shoot telephoto throughout, which is the opposite of how most in-ship stuff is done, since it is the equivalent to parking the camera outside the ship and shooting in through a window whether there is one there or not.

There's a lot to be said for shooting in an enclosed space with wider lenses in terms of sub-like claustrophobia, but I don't think that would be a selling point for this picture from what I've seen.
