New Ade Edmondson Comedy

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Teenage Kicks
New Series. Sitcom starring Adrian Edmondson as a divorced father of two trapped in a punk time warp but struggling to join the real world - if he can find the right woman. Drowning his sorrows after a disastrous blind date, he is pleasantly surprised when his daughter's gorgeous tutor drops by.
28 March at 9.30 on ITV1
I just saw an advert during Dexter for this new comedy, I have to say Ade's character seems familiar ground for him. But it seems odd seeing him without Rik in a comedy.
I did set it to record though. Any body else interested?

Yes, i'll certainly give it a try. If by familiar ground you mean that as an ex Young One and father of 3 he is basically playing himself then yeah, i'd have to agree

My worry here is that Ade has quite the sitcom legacy to live up to. I mean the guy is a legend in British pop culture, and primetime ITV1 is not exactly his style.

I strongly suspect we are going to get a very docile unimaginative comedy here, but I hope to be surprised.

Mind you, having said that, The New Statesman was also a primetime ITV sitcom and Mayall was brilliant in that, but it had the concept, and to be fair it was one of the only good sitcoms ITV have produced.

I know, that's my worry too.
Although I have to say, I've enjoyed Moving Wallpaper, a lot, and it's in more or less the same timeslot.

I haven't watched an ITV show since, well, maybe since Spitting Image finished. For some reason my TV remote just seems to skip it entirely

I know what you mean, I hadn't watched anything on ITV since moving in to my own house. Until maybe 2 years ago, but even then it was only 1 or 2 shows a year, but they actually seem to be trying this year.

Well I'm just watching the second episode. I think I was right, far too ITV, I don't think I'll be watching again.

Was it as 'good' as ITV's sitcom from a few years ago, Shane, starring Frank Skinner
My best friend and I used to watch it back in our student days, while every one else in our house would beg us to turn it off, but we loved it as it was SO awful it was funny.
Skinner couldn't act to save his life

I've missed it every week. It doesn't seem that I am missing much though.

Well as an example of the jokes

Ade "Oh no... I've got a terrible letter from my solicitors."
Daughter "aww Is it the divorce from mum?"
Ade "Why would I be upset about that? It's the bill."

or

Son "Your solicitors Fefaquar, Fefaquar and Fefaquar"
Ade "That's right all the Fefaquars"
