New 3D Ship, Anyone?

Hi, all...

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to tackle a ship design in 3D... a ship design based off of one of four proposed "Nova" Class concepts, from the ST:TNG Technical Manual. Below is the design:

First, let me explain that I CAN offer a money payment for this, if the price is reasonable, and the quality is good. That CAN be negotiated.

Let me also explain, that a side and front view DO exist, and I have them both. PhilArt, of Sci-Fi Meshes.com had at one time started working on this ship, but halted the project, at an unfinished status, and he has since dropped off the radar. But I DO have refs, which can and will be furnished to anyone who elects to take this model on.

Why am I asking for this? I am also on the Okudagrams.com site, and on there, I have a thread where I am attempting to fully flesh this ship out, interior as well as exterior. This is the design I have chosen for the U.S.S. Emissary (Mercury-Class), a ship in my ST: Distant Star fanfic. I would very much love to see this ship fully realized in 3D, as I think it has lots of promise.

So far, these are the three criteria I have for the ship...

- It is about the same size as an Ambassador-Class ship.
- Hull color is the same "duck egg blue" as the 1701-D.
- It has a neck section.

PhilArt was doing his model in Blender. I have no preference what you use, so long as it looks good, and produces a clean model.

If ANYONE is interested, please PM me in the forum here, or IM me on AIM, via NebulaClassGuy. Thanks for checking this out.

If you were willing to pay I would promote this on http://www.cgtalk.com, and you'll get some bites.

My currently modeling project has my 3D hobby tied up (plus it's sporadic at best when I have time to work on art).

ALL those Nova concepts should be developed in 3D on this site.

They are all very interesting.

Shame none of them were used canonically.

I always loved that design, although admittedly it's hard for me to picture any other views that don't look completely fugly! ;)

...hmm, looking at it again -and in larger res, thanks BA - I'm getting a distinct "Galaxy engineering hull" vibe from it. I wonder...

Well, like I said, I DO have a side and front view, but they are very low-poly.

I'm not going to post the other views here, unless someone is willing to take on the project, because if I just go ahead and post them, all I'll get is "thanks, BA, nice views", and that'll be the end of it.

Trust me... this is a VERY workable ship design... it just needs a little attention and TLC, to bring it to its full potential, from a skilled CG artist.

Well, if anyone wants to take this on, the offer of monetary compensation remains open.

I found someone from Sci-Fi Meshes.com, who is willing to take this on. I will post WIP images as they become available.

I'm glad you found some one. Although I was looking for an excuse to model a starship. Oh well. Next time maybe.

I'm not stopping you from making it. :D :bolian:

Ha ha true. I just have a hard time devoting time to something I did not think up myself without alternate motivation like monetary gain etc... Can you post the other views? I may just try it as a personal exercise to work on my modeling skills if I get some free time.
