New 30 minute Batman fanfilm online -- CITY OF SCARS

Aaron Schoenke and Dailymotion have released the newest Batman fanfilm entitled City of Scars. Schoenke is something of a pioneer of the Batman fanfilm "genre", having starred, written and directed one of the very first Batman fanfilms several years ago entitled Batman Beyond: Year One. Since then, he has gone on to write, produce, and direct Batman: Dark Justice, Patient J, Batman Legends and now City of Scars.

His newest film is his most ambitious yet, while also the most impressive when it comes to production values. Starring Kevin Porter as Batman, the film focuses on The Joker (played by Paul Molnar, who has played The Joker in all of Aaron's films), recently escaped from Arkham Asylum, who kills two parents and kidnaps their son, the sole survivor. While trying to recover the kidnapped child, the tragic incident harkens back to Batman's own parents' murder, and he begins to feel the strain of his war on crime and the affects his presence has had on Gotham City.

Check out the film at the link below. I am merely sharing this as a fellow fan -- and I am curious to see what you guys think.

Absolutely extraordinary. I enjoyed the story but more than that the production values were fantastic. The costuming was on the money and everyone "looked" the part. Having the Ventriloquist in it was awesome, I never thought I'd get to see a live action interpretation of that guy!

I have to say I don't like the guy playing The Joker. He's got the voice down, but he just doesn't look like The Joker to me. I dunno.

That said, everything else was great. It really makes me want to play Arkham Asylum.

That was as outstanding as I thought it would be and worth the wait. A great psychological examination once again of the ongoing battle between Batman and Joker only this time it seems to have a conclusion, tragic and unexpected. Also underlines perfectly I think why Bruce continues to be Batman as well as the constant doubts and moral dilemmas that he deals with. Fantastic production values, the script was very strong, I loved seeing Black Canary and Mr. Scarface and the Ventriloquist! Paul did another great number as the Joker (he plays such a great dark Joker while still holding onto his dark humor). I actually teared up a couple of times. The dude who plays Batman/Bruce Wayne is near perfect. I would give this movie 4/4 stars.

Grayson is one of the better fanfilms alongside Aaron's own Patient J and another fanfilm entitled Batman: Dark Tomorrow, which I recommend for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Here's a clip from that film.

Grayson is maybe one of my favorite fan film shorts...the script is great but the ending of the film is rather disappointing. Patient J is outstanding, better than this film.

Not bad at all! Thanks for posting that.

This short makes me wish there was a new live-action Batman series with a serious tone.

That was great! Batman had always been a great vehicle for morality plays. This was done damn near perfectly. :techman:
