New 15 minute long "Harry Potter" tribute that every fan needs to see

My good friend Corey, who I have collaborated with editorially on several of my film projects (including Fallen, Date of Loss and many more to come) has put together an unbelievably fantastic fifteen minute video that pays tribute to the whole eight-film Harry Potter saga that every fan should check out.

Instead of trying to explain the purpose of the video, I'll let him explain it himself.

Well...here it is. After both mentally conceptualizing and physically working on it for so long, it feels great to finally have it finished and out there for fellow fans to see. And rest assured, that is indeed what this is all about. This is 100%, through and through, a video by a fan, for the fans. One can only hope that we are all able to come together and reminisce, appreciate, and above all, celebrate the monumental achievements of the Harry Potter series.

As one will be able to tell, this doesn't really fit the typical "AMV style" of such projects. While I definitely considered going that route, I really wanted to work in plot, sequentiality, structure, and select pieces from all 8 scores. As such, I felt that this "narrative" approach was the best way to go about accomplishing all of these tasks. As mentioned in the first teaser, we really do follow a "prologue -- movies 1 - 8 -- epilogue" format here.

Creating this tribute was easily one of the most simultaneously rewarding and draining things I've ever done. Most of the time, it absolutely killed me to not be able to include specific bits and moments in it. I'm sure such choices will be polarizing (believe me, I sympathize - some of my favorite moments had to be scrapped as well), but I was working towards creating somewhat of a narrative flow that established fans could follow, and as a result, omissions were necessary. Of course, one also has to consider the ridiculousness of trying to cram over 16 hours of footage into 15, coherent minutes. This was my personal justification... ;)

I feel no shame in admitting that tears, both happy and sad, were shed during the making of this tribute. This series, both books and films, has captured me in a way that I'm sure many others have felt as well, and as such, I sincerely hope that all Harry Potter fans out there enjoy watching it just as much as I did making it.

To sum up this very long description, I'd just like to thank the exceptional team that has been behind bringing Harry Potter to the big screen, and dedicate this video to all involved in the decade-long production. And to reiterate, this tribute is also dedicated to all fans of the series. It is via our admiration that the magic will forever live on...

Without further adue, I present Harry Potter: A Tribute to the Magic. I dare any considerable Harry Potter fan to watch this without getting teary-eyed. I think it's amazing to watch this tribute and witness all of the films back-to-back.

The Harry Potter series is an incredible cinematic achievement, and I think this tribute makes that even more prominent and obvious. It was really amazing watching the progression of the films, the different cinematic styles, and of course the aging and maturing of the main actors. I don't think there has ever been a movie legacy quite like the Harry Potter movies, and I'm not sure there's going to be one like it ever again.

That was very well done, though it didn't really affect me on any emotional level until they started getting into the stuff from "Half-Blood Prince" and "Deathly Hallows." It really is a unique series of films, and the thing I find most impressive is how they were able to retain so many of the same cast members, even all the random students that never played a huge part, like Seamus and Goyle.

One thing I am really excited to do is rewatch the series and pay particular attention to Snape. I haven't read the books, so I didn't know anything about him until seeing the final film.

Awesome! Great editing of image and music.

And Wednesday, I should be at Wizarding World of HP.

To be honest, I think it's much too long. There are already 100s of 3-4 minute videos on youtube that do a much better job of relaying the best bits of the films in a decent period of time.

The video started off as good, then when it began to get into Prisoner of Azkaban, it began to get really good and, as it went past the Goblet of Fire into the darker parts of the Harry Potter series, it propelled to the heights of FANTASTIC!

I love the editing of this video and how the video was so professionally made. JacksonArcher, your friend Corey did an incredible job.

It is brilliant in my opinion. Really well done and shows the progression of our three heroes journey incredibly well, supported by great characters and actors, and of course the great music that was started off by the icon himself John Williams. Spectacular tribute by a fan whom you can tell is really passionate about the films.

Yeah that was great. I'm not a big fan of the films. For the most part, I generally feel like they failed to capture the themes of the books (although, I think JKR lost sight of her own themes quite a few times as well). In fact, I think the HP adaption that best got the feeling of the books is "A Very Potter Musical" which is a parody.

But whoever made this video obviously was also a fan of the books. It definitely captured the feeling that I got when I first read the books. Brilliant.

I don't think there has ever been a movie legacy quite like the Harry Potter movies, and I'm not sure there's going to be one like it ever again.

The Bond and Star Wars films come closest, though the Potter films are unique in that they all came out in the space of a single decade, and with one key exception (Richard Harris RIP) accomplished the incredible by maintaining the key cast throughout. And the key production and writing personnel. That has to be unique in the history of filmmaking.

Also unique is the fact that while you will have debates over which film was better than others, and everyone has their favorites, I don't know of any other film series of this length that hasn't had one dud, either critically or at the box office. All 8 films won acclaim and legions of fans and huge box office.

I only wish they hadn't spoiled things a bit by making the last one 3-D.
