Never Used Generations Uniforms

The new uniforms were designed and even manufactured. Shortly after filming commenced, the producers (I assume this is Rick Berman) decided not to use them, as they didn't want to introduce too many new elements (they changed the sets a bit, created a new communicator, and were going to destroy the Enterprise itself!). Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner, the "stars" of the film, got tailer-made DS9-style jumpsuits. They stuffed Jonathan Frakes into one of Avery Brooks' uniforms, and Levar Burton into one of Colm Meaney's. Supposedly there were no adequately-sized DS9 uniforms for the rest of the cast, which is why they remained in their TNG uniforms.

These abandoned new uniforms were going to be used on VOY, but once they scrapped them, they decided to keep using the DS9 style jumpsuits.

I personally am glad they didn't use these. I am much happier with the black/gray uniforms that debuted in FC.

Huh? They were identical, AFAIK.

Yes, your recall is correct. They were the same style of uniform.

Unless, Albo is referring to the original DS9 uniforms, that were used during the early seasons and the entire run of Voyager.

I don't like the coloured collar on these uniforms but otherwise they're not bad. I don't see the sense in changing them since they're not very different from the TNG ones but boy would they have been better for Voyager than those cheap-looking early DS9 jumpsuits.

I actually like the colored collars because it makes the rank pips pop a little more. I also liked the decision to put ranks on sleeves again a la TOS.

One of the things I really liked about Generations was that they used 2 types of uniforms. I rather wished that they would have done that in either TNG or DS9 regularly. Obviously the crew has to wear their department colors and can't have casual fridays but having a variation i the uniforms would have been cool. I would have liked to have seen Voayger utilize that as well. I think some of the Voyager cast would have looked pretty cool in TNG uniforms.
