Kept a United States Post OFfice employees from not delivering a ton of mail.

Some of you might be getting some mail soon...

I think it's not only remarkable he got away with it that long, but it took that many pieces of missing mail before the USPS realized something was amiss.

I'm not surprised. This isn't the first time USPS has been caught no knowing large amounts of mail haven't been delivered.

It's a regular occurence that mail is "lost" in the USPS but that amount is extravagant.

I wonder how much of the really old stuff will end up being destroyed due to the recipient and sender having moved. I'm sure that the USPS has a time limit on how long they retain change of address notices.

I just brought the mail in. I sat down at my desk and opened it. 100% of what I brought in went straight to the recycle bin. Over the last 7-10 days, at least 95% of what comes through the mail gets recycled because it's junk.

I asked our letter carrier one afternoon if it beats him down to carry all this crap around, knowing that it's either going into the trash or recycle bin. He said he tried not to think about it.

If my letter carrier wanted to fill a storage unit with this junk for 20 years, I'd be OK with it.

Since I've gone paperless on all my bills, investment accounts, and banking the volume of mail that is relevant has gone down to almost nothing.

In Australia, the majority of junk mail is not delivered by the post office but by private carriers. If you have "NO JUNK MAIL" on the letter box then they are not meant to put it in.

Sometimes my NO JUNK MAIL is ignored especially by people who don't regard religious pamphlets as junk mail, and also by smaller local businesses but the major deliverers abide by the rule.

^ I wish we had a system like there here in the U.S.

I let my junk mail pile up until I have like, a whole trash bag full. then I take it back to the umm, post office and leave it there. sometimes I just write "refused - return to sender" on it and put it right back into the mailbox. on several occasions, I've actually crammed a bunch of it into a box and sent it directly to the local postmaster. let him farkin' deal with it.
