Neil Patrick Harris to Host Oscars

It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards," Harris said in a statement. "I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show,” said Harris. “To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”

I think he'll make a good host; he's charming and clever but not out to be offensive. Neil certainly can handle the song and dance numbers, but the last thing the Oscars need is more musical numbers!

What do you think? Is he a good choice?

I think he's an excellent choice. You should see him when he hosted the Tony awards. He's brilliant.

I love NPH. But "We Saw Your Boobs" was pretty great.

Great. But I think my favorite of his Tony openings is still, "It's Not Hust for Gays Anymore". Utterly hysterical.

Oscars obviously want to keep those ratings up.

I see it not so much as cheesy, but cheeky. Yeah, there's cheese, but it's with a wink and a nod. That's what makes it fun. Plus, NPH is so damned cute!

Yeah, it always feels like he is laughing at his antics right along with us. High likability quotient.
