Neil Gaimen hints at the title for his upcoming episode

The Iced Warriors.

Am I remembering supposition for fact? Is it only a guess that it's a Cyber-Story?

Gaiman Cyber-Story could be awesome, but, I'd also very much welcome an update of The Ice Warriors, and I think Gaiman could do a fantastic re-introduction

No, Gaiman's story is supposed to be a Cybermen story. I just saw the above guesses being "The ____ Warriors" and tossed in what popped into my head. Only as a joke

Although there were rumours that Mark Gatiss was writing an Ice Warriors episode.
Ahhh, got it, thanks.

I hope the Gatiss rumor is true, and that he does a great job.

The Real Cybermen

the word "real" to be in spangly type, like in "the real ghostbusters".

mondas Cybermen with tenth planet style kit - they were by far the creepiest for my money

Oh! I LIKE that!

I used to roll my eyes at the "ski mask" design until someone upon one of the edicated DW discussion sites posted two seemingly simple words...

Surgical gauze

Suddenly, I imagined a patient reclining upon a table within an operating theater, his blood fed through a compact heart/lung machine off to the side, bypassing his own circulatory and respiratory systems. Instead of "gas" suppressing his pain receptors, a "helmet" using electrodes serves that purpose.

The patient awakens! And without really understanding why, he rises from the table; grabs the internally powered heart/lung box and staggers from the theater as the medical personnel stare in disbelief and horror!

From that point, I developed an appreciation for that initial design.

Sincerely,

Bill

i would love a 'proper' Cybermen story without any comedy sidekick shenanigans. but a Neil Gaiman Cybermen episode? i can't even fathom that.

Yea, when they were first shown, the first time I saw the story, I kinda rolled my eyes, wondering WTH is this crap. It wasn't more than 5 minutes of screen time for them that I realized they were the creepiest versions of Cybermen ever :bolian:
