He didn't live to see a man on Mars like he hoped to after landing on the Moon, but he saw alot in his 82 years.

RIP Neil, America and the world could use more people with your hope and courage.

RIP Neil Armstrong. He is a true legend in our lifetime. Such a shame he did not live to see is go back to the Moon.

Oh, snap. I was afraid of something like this when I heard he was in the hospital recently.

    He'll never be forgotten.

We can take comfort from one thing: Neil Armstrong's name will probably be remembered down through the ages long after every other name from our civilization has been forgotten. Only one person can ever be the first human to set foot on a world other than Earth, and he was the one.

I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don't intend to waste any of mine...

Godspeed, sir. You were an inspiration to us all.

I had just watched a programme today which talked about the famous Earthrise photo taken by Apollo 8's Bill Anders, and then, later this afternoon, started reading about the story behind the Blue Marble photo credited to Apollo 17.

And then I heard about Neil.

Very sad news this evening. Planet Earth has lost a true hero of our time. May his life continue to inspire us all for generations to come.

Hopefully now he'll get the peace and quiet he longed for.

    RIP Neil.

A sad day, a hero to many & an amazing life. Amazing he flew over 200 different models of aircraft in his career (blurb on CNN). Think about that, I doubts any of us will drive 200 different models of cars in our lifetime, let alone fly anything.

I take it further and say that his name might be remembered and repeated by species who can't even pronounce it, after Homo sapiens are long gone, on worlds far away from our solar system.
