Need info on ENT novel THE EXPANSE...

Hi gang! New here; first post!

I collect all the Enterprise novels, and prefer them all to be in the mass market (small paperback) format. But the only one I haven't been able to find in mass market is THE EXPANSE.

I've seen some used copies online LISTED as mass market, but I think it may've just been a mistake.

Can anyone show me irrevocable proof via a photo that a mass market edition exists? I'm beginning to think it never went to a mass market printing.

Thank you all! :)

Welcome! :)

I suspect you may be right that it never existed in that format, as neither S&S's website nor MA make any reference to it. Unfortunately, I don't have definitive proof either way, sorry. (Amazon does apparently list some new copies as MMPB, but as you say, those listings could just be errors.)

Just to let you know, in case you haven't seen it yet, we also have a Trek Literature forum. Threads about the books may get more response there than in the show forum. :)

Welcome, HooveRtron! Glad to have you here.

If you find a copy of the book offered by an Amazon Marketplace seller, you might try messaging the seller to confirm whether it is indeed a MMPB size. Sellers are usually happy to provide details.

Thanks, but I did contact one person who never contacted me. I haven't taken the time to contact others. I think these sellers just copy each others' listings, so just one person had to list it as a mass market in order for there to be numerous "wrong" listings, sadly.

Some sellers probably don't know what MMPB means. I certainly don't.

What size is a mass market version vs. any other one? I know there are some large paperback versions of books out there, maybe 50% taller & wider.

Then there were the Sci-Fi Book Club hardbacks, which were slightly smaller than the ones available in bookstores.

You can Google up size dimensions but in size order they go mass market paperback (MMPB) < trade paperback (TPB) < standard hardcover (HC) with book clubs typically about the size of a tpb.

In recent years, publishers were testing a larger size mass market pb, I think mainly to see if we'd pay two additional dollars per bookif it were a tad taller. But I think this has been abandoned.

It may be obvious that I worked in bookstores for 17 years of my life...

I must have been using the wrong search term. I kept finding book size charts with everything in inches rather than the terminology you used.
