I read that many fans disliked the NX-O1 not just because of the Akira ties, but because the ship was TOO big! Now I am doing some pre fed ships on blender right know, but I need to know how big or small these ships are supposed to be. Thanks.

I don't believe it was ever mentioned in canon. Perhaps you have more luck on memory beta. I do believe fanon opinions are somewhere around 100m for the Daedalus class.

I knew about and understand the complaints due to the Akira-ness of the NX design, but too big? It's roughly the size of a Defiant class (which I think is only meant to be 4/5 decks), and considering that the NX represented a 'pinnacle' of sorts of the then-current state of the art technology, I don't find the size much of a push at all.

If I remember correctly the NX was suposed to be about 60 or so feet longer then the defiant and have 7 decks. (source was from a trek communacator interview with Drexlor & berman) However considering the conflicting lenth numbers on the defiant, I have been going by this info on the NX http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/prefed_ships.htm Ya, have to scroll down till you get to the NX.
