Need help identifying a part of Windows 7

Hopefully this is as straight forward as I'm trying to make it out to be...

I have a PC connected to a pair of LTO drives, and depending on the file type I am often prompted with the message "do you wish to copy this file without its properties?" or words to that effect.

Now the PC is behind me in the office and I often miss these prompts, so what I want to know is under Windows 7 what would such a prompt/error message be called? I want to attach a sound effect alerting me to the prompt when it happens, but it's not easy to identify under the Sound options for adding effects.

Thanks in advance.

No clue if you can attach a sound to that. The events listed in the sound settings aren't exactly well-explained. There's one that says "Question" in windows 8 which sounds generic enough that it could apply to something like that, but it certainly doesn't do anything with the windows 8 file explorer that I can see. But the win8 version of the file copy utility is significantly different from win 7 (mostly for the better), so who knows.

Anyway, I think a better bet would be to dig up a copy replacement. I've used TeraCopy for years, and I rather like it, but there are others out there depending on what features you need.

It should be System Notification. It could also be Question or Default Beep though, unlikely but could also be Program Error.

I'd start with those. The default sounds(for the ones that have them assigned) are pretty quiet and short, so it might be that you're just not hearing it in the midst of your work. I'd just change all of them, and use your chosen sound file that is longer(TNG transporter is a good one), and with the volume up.

My computer is all Star Trek sounds. :P
