Need a Mac...

Hey, everybody. :)

I don't usually post over here, but thought someone might be able to help me out.

We're starting to support more Apple hardware at work, so I got looking around the internet for a cheap used Intel Mac. I was hoping to find a mac mini or something in the $200 range, but you can imagine my amazement when everything I can find goes for about twice that.

Does anybody have a source for used Mac hardware? I don't even care if the stuff is missing hard drives, RAM, or anything, since I have access to plenty of junk. :)

Ideally, I am hoping to run Lion on it, but Snow Leopard would do fine, too. :)

Thanks guys,

-Ricky

Sure! Here's a Mac Mini for $194:

This is where I shopped when I was looking for an iMac about 3 years ago. Great deals there!

What about laptops? I'll have to replace my Macbook in the next 1-2 years, and I'm looking for a good deal. At least I think I've got enough time to save up for a brand new one, but I'm open to refurbished ones.

Apple are revamping (almost) their entire Mac line next week so there might be deals of old models going at some stores.

I'd love to get my hands on an aluminum iMac, but that's a year off at least.

Yeah, that's what I'm really wanting, as well. I see those used for 700-800 bucks all over the place...

But it's hard for me to pay that much for a couple year old computer. My 6 core AMD box that I built last year was less than that, new. :D

I installed OSx86 on a $100 ThinkPad... just throwing that out there.
Yeah, I've been making Hackintoshes for a while. It's just getting harder to stay current, without exactly the right hardware.

It doesn't help that I'm an AMD guy. :D
