Neat Star Trek V story...

I have an ebay store where a I sell mostly Star Trek memorabilia (mostly toys) and I had listed 2 Vinyl Captain Klaa figures from Gallob and I sold one the other night.

Imagine my surprise when I went to PayPal to see the name of the buyer:

Yes, indeed it is that Todd Bryant. He was very gracious and I offered the Klaa figure for free in exchange for an autograph on my other one and he accepted and I sent him both.

Obviously I'm leaving a whole lot of this story out.

He had already paid (hence payment from Todd Bryant). I asked him if he was the Todd Bryant (after alreay confirming on my own based on the information that I had). He confirmed and left it at that stating that he had gotten quite a few of these from Galoob when he played the role and he had given them all away years ago and wanted one for himself and he left it at that.

I then made him the offer and he accepted but offered instead to just hold out until the summer and I could deliver him his and he could sign mine at the Vegas Creation Convention.

So what it really comes down to is this:

1.) I had already verified who he was before I even inquired.
2.) He had already paid me.
3.) Even after he confirmed his identity, he was content to just have me send him the paid for merchandise.
4.) I initiated the "in lieu of payment" transaction, not him.
5.) He offered to just let me keep my items and we could do the transaction this summer.
6.) ...And most importantly, we're talking about $10 here. That's an an awfully tiny amount to perform such an elaborate charade, don't you think?
7.) No offense to Mr.Bryant, but putting him on the same level of fame as Nimoy and Shatner is little silly don't you think?

I actually met him at the 2006 Convention (I'm sure he wouldn't know me from a bag of assholes) and he is really personable guy.

All of my experiences with Trek character actors have been nothing but positive. I actually met Glenn Morshower (Secret Service Agent Aaron Pierce on 24) when I ran the Office at a jewelry store back in 2003 and I spent over two hours shooting the shit with him about Hollywood stories and in particular Star Trek stories. I still keep in touch with him to this day.
