NCC-1701 USS Enterprise A/E Merged and Reimagined

Then why post updates here at all? You've already got the deviantart for that purpose.

Exposure. Posting an update increases potential eyeballs on my designs. I post them here and on Deviantart (and sometimes on Twitter) to share them, not to create a history of their progress. In fact several of the older ones aren't even in their original threads because they've been deleted from my Deviantart account by me.

I'd rather not fight with you but I don't understand why you keep bringing this up. That's the way I do it, and that's that.

If you don't like the way I update my threads I suggest you avoid those you've already seen before.
Ah, well, that's hard to do, seeing as there's no clear way to determine if I've seen this version or not before. Sure, there's a "last updated" timestamp, but that could be a changed spelling of a word, or an entirely replaced ship, which is exactly the point.

Again again again, we all love your work, and we'd love to see that work!

Happy posting, my friend. No need to follow up again, just listen to advice & opinions (even if you reject them), no need to be defensive about it.

I thank you for your advice, Jo. I really do. But repeating the advice is what puts me on the defensive. It's like an immune response, I suppose.

Hey @Belz..., just to add my two cents to the conversation: I‘m afraid I‘m right with @Spaceship Jo on this one. Your art is wonderful, but the way you‘re posting your updates kind of undermines the way this forum and WIPs in general work.

I have considered several times to say something, but I‘m always coming to the conclusion that you are entirely within your rights to present your work in whatever way you chose (within the forum rules). So while I personally think you‘re undercutting the optimal way to get useful feedback and present the other posters a pleasent experience of viewing your progress, I also at the same time completely respect your way of thinking and your choices and don‘t think it‘s worth to argue over. That artists feel comfortable sharing their art here is more important to me than my perception of viewing pleasure.

Anyway, I didn‘t want to start another debate on this, just thought I might add the “moderator‘s perspective”, for what it‘s worth. Carry on. :)

@Michael I'm not sure I entirely agree. This is a discussion board after all and the rules that we have seem to be written in order to protect and foster said discussions. So maybe there isn't a explicit rule that prohibits editing and re-editing a post after folks have responded to it but such actions do seem to go against the spirit of the rules we have.

I do agree to an extent in that it goes against the idea of a discussion board. BUT at the same time, and much more importantly: I can‘t and won’t undermine the rights of a person – and especially an artist – to control their own content. I can and must moderate what people are sharing here, of course, and, if necessary, make content invisible to ensure the board rules are followed. But I most certainly CANNOT force someone to have their art stay visible against their expressed wishes. As far as I know that would even go against standing European data protection laws, which ensure each person‘s rights to control their own data (the servers of the board are located within the EU).

I hope that explains my reasoning a bit. I chose to reply to this here out in the open for everyone‘s information, but as I said earlier, this is not supposed to become a discussion for this thread. If anyone needs further clarification, feel free to PM me. Or if you want to discuss this with the board administration, I suggest you start a thread in the Moderator Actions subforum. This will be the end of that discussion here. Thank you! :)
