As much as I hate all things Celtics, Bill Russell was was not among those hated things.
He was an athletic and personal role model for me, he was in the mold of a Jackie Robinson, being a Black superstar in one of the most racist environments in America; 1950’s, 1960’s Boston. But in spite of that, he still managed to maintain his dignity and accomplish the near impossible in leading the C’s to 11 rings, first Black HC of a major pro tram in America.
He spoke at my college many years ago. Great man. RIP.

I'm not understanding why, in a season where a banner is on the table, this severe a punishment for a consensual but improper relationship. Athletes and coaches with sexual assault allegations have gotten lighter punishments for worse teams. Either there's some other element to this that hasn't been released to the public, or there's some kind of personal element with the owner, or this extreme a punishment makes no sense whatsoever.
