Balmer can afford to buy the rest of the league.

Guess we'll see. Adam Silver has made the owners a lot of money over the years, Balmer just tried to cheat them.
Most any fool can make money owning a sports team in LA. Silver is getting ready to deliver the owners nearly $20 billion dollars in expansion fees.
He's not the one that is negotiating TV, merchandising, and expansion fees, among other things on Silver's plate.
The owners have a hand in that stuff
And as negotiations move more towards Amazon / Netflix and away from TNT, someone with 2 decades experience at Microsoft will have significant value.
As I'm sure we've all heard by now, the DOJ has opened a criminal investigation of the Clippers and Kawhi's salary cap shenanigans. Who knows what the motivation for this is with this DOJ.
On the issue of Balmer's recourse, one of the things I've read is that because the NBA's arbitration process has to be initiated by a player, and Kawhi has accepted responsibility and won't file for arbitration, Balmer will not be able to appeal through that process. So, it appears Balmer may have to pursue relief through federal or state court.

Announced today, the Clippers trade of Kawhi to Toronto would be completed by the teams pending standard NBA approval. In the deal, the Clips get two round picks, which will somewhat offset their loss of 5 first rounders. They didn't have their first rounders in '27 and '28 (I think), due to previous deals.
I kinda wish DanCPA were still here, because I would have liked to see him try and walk back his comment about Balmer fighting the ruling.
