"Name that Quote" thread

Eminence

Fleet Captain
I seem to remember when I would come to this forum back when DS9 had just gone off air (early 2000's), that we'd play a game where we'd quote great lines from DS9, and try and identify who said it and the episode from which that line came (ex: Jadzia, You are Cordially Invited), and whoever was able to figure it out, would offer another quote to stump. Maybe we all don't like this game anymore (haven't seen it on here since I've been back) but I figure......why not have the ultimate "Championship: Several years later" edition, and see how much of that show we can still remember.

I'll start: "That's the thing about Faith. If you don't have it, you can't understand it. And if you do, no explanation is necessary."

Oooh, fun! What if I know who it was and to whom she was speaking, and the season, but not the episode? Do I get half credit?

I'm not positive, but I'm fairly sure it's Kira. Episode? No idea. Guess? Progress.

Also, suggestion for the game: no internet searching. That's blatantly unfun. If you dunno the answer then you dunno the answer.

^I'm pretty positive that it was Kira to Odo, and now that I think of it, I might know the episode. Is it the one in which the profits and Pah-Wraiths battle on the promenade? Was it "The Reckoning"?
I seem to recall her saying that to him at the beginning of the episode, and then him defending her acceptance of the Profit's possession on grounds of respecting her faith. Do I win?

Very close! Definitely Kira, but different episode. Kira was always talking about her faith though as it was an important part of her life. ;)

Treachery, Faith, and the Great River?

^^You'd think, with "Faith" being in the title of the episode, but nope. Any other takers? Not sure how many guesses we should be using etc...

It was definitely Kira to Odo. They were on the Promenade, he says something about how her faith has led her to a quandary re: an inconsistency, and thats when she says this. And then she does the open palm Bajoran clap. Love the Bajoran clap, I will admit, I have used it myself on occasion. ;)

Asession".. the one with the new emmissary

Close enough. ;)

Yes, it was "Kira, in Accession", an interesting if at times nauseating episode. Could have done without the djarra stuff, but I liked how in this episode Sisko really became more comfortable with and eased into the more faith related aspect of being the Emissary. Big character growth for him I thought (almost as big as when he shaved off his head and grew a beard ;)), and it's nice to see him come to comfort with it all. And, I would agree with Jadzia....the job sounds like fun.

Do you have a quote? For those of us certain enough in their answers, feel free to supply new quote with your response. :klingon:

I think I know this one. It's Kira to Odo, going over incident reports, and I think the episode was "Crossfire" (if that's the one where Kira and Shakaar get all mittens for eachother and Odo is achingly, adorably jealous).

You are right. I always found it to be a cool scene, because it implies a potentially abusive relationship, yet the man is on the receiving end. Anyway, it's your turn!

^Interestingly, in most American domestic violence incidents and domestic abuse cases the woman is actually the aggressor.

Alright, here you go!

"I'm sorry; that was very small of me."

hmm, tough one. Nothing stands out yet....."One Little Ship" maybe....oh yeah!! Bashir to O'Brien when they've shrunk...when he makes one of those playfully disdainful comments to O'brien that they so often shared with one another.

Here's another:
Dukat : "I hope Shakaar realizes just what a lucky man he is."
Kira : "Shakaar's not the father."
Dukat : "Then who is?"
Kira : "Chief O'Brien."

Apocalypse Rising. Dukat's face was classic after the "Chief O'Brien". I love that elevator scene. there've been some fanfic written about it ;) Kira and Dukat were always delicious fun together.

Definitely Sisko. I'm positive he said it to Cassidy when she tried to cook for him as a surprise and made a bit of a disaster of it. I couldn't tell you the episode though.

This is the story of my life. I have a vivid, picture-perfect memory of scenes but can't fit them within the context of a coherent story. :)
