Name that movie...

AntonyF

Official Tahmoh Taster
Rear Admiral
I have a fragment of a film in my head, but don't know what it was. Would appreciate an answer from one of you clever lot!

I would have watched it in the 80s, meaning it's that period or maybe 70s.

And it's some people, women I think, who want to hold a robbery. And I remember a big clear ball, with notes flying around in it I think, possibly for a lottery. But I remember the big ball.

And that's all I remember!

does the "legend of rita" ring a bell?

Looking at the IMDb, that's definitely not it!

It was had a certain comedic tone I seem to remember.

Sounds like The Crystal Maze to me- it was a game show where the contestants ended up in a big clear ball, trying to grab tokens which would add to their prizes

Could be "How to Beat the High Co$t of Living" from 1980/81...I seem to recall a scene similar to the one described and it was definitely a comedy.

From the comments about that listing:
The scene where Jane Curtin does a strip-tease, and the money is sucked out of the giant plexiglass ball was filmed at Valley River Center on the shore of the Willamette River.

Not a problem. I actually didn't bother to post it for a day 'cause I'd figured someone else would have gotten it right away. Oops!

It's worth noting that the two leads went on to co-star as "Kate & Allie" on TV about 3 years later. Susan St. James' husband is NBC-TV exec Dick Ebersole, so they all three met when she was hosting SNL.

That has to be it! The description on IMDb, the date, the fact that it's primarily a female cast all fits.

Thanks so much. Love Trek BBS for this, always someone who knows something!

Yeah, that's likely it. Jane Curtain strips down to distract everyone during the robbery and no one pays any attention to her.:)
