Makes me think of something George R.R. Martin said about Americans.

He pretty much said this level of prudish behavior was unique to us. I'm not sure if that's true, but I guess he knows what he's talking about.

I think Martin is quite right. Americans (and I mean USians) have a very violent history, and our Puritan heritage still shines through in terms of our sexual attitudes, much to my chagrin.

This. As said above, there's no shortage of naked pictures of all types on the internet and elsewhere, but nobody has the right to publish naked photos -- taken in private -- of someone else without their permission. It's a crappy thing to do, whether the subject is famous or not.
