My take on the USS Galen

If this is up twice Im sorry I had posting problems.

The USS Galen appeared to be a cross between a Nova and a Miranda-class starship. The main section had six decks. It was constructed in a wide triangular shape and the nacelles were mounted on short pylons extending directly from the drive section.

I thought the sphere on the roll bar would be a nice tribute to the old Olympic class med ship. I think of it as a 360 degree turret.

I know its rough, it was done on a drafting table and scanned. If anyone could recommend a user friendly free 3D program that would be great.

Looking forward to your thoughts. Have mercy, it was drawn by hand.
 
I am not familiar with this ship... It looks like it has possibilities.

Google SU is a quick way to get into it. Plus you get instant gratification! Don't forget to go over the SU demos if you download it. It really makes a difference in how fast you'll progress.
 
It's adorable! What's with the weird taupe color? I mean, I like it, it's just non-standard for Starfleet.

Forgive me for missing something, but what is the USS Galen exactly? And what did it appear in?
 
I'm pretty sure it's Enderw's own fan design. And it appeared in this very thread! However, now that I see it says "My Take On..." I wonder if that suggests that the Galen appeared or at least was mentioned elsewhere.

Historically, Galen was a Greco-Roman scientist/philosopher who came up with a groundbreaking theory about how the circulatory system worked, which was accepted as correct for over a thousand years, but was eventually proved wrong during the renaissance. Interesting guy.

Its from Star Trek Voyager novel Unworthy. They were vague on the description but it was a cross between a Nova and a Miranda class ship. It is suppose to be a medical ship staff mostly with holograms. The sphere is my tribute to the Olympic class, the only other medical ship that I new of. As for the color, I just started with that and kept it. For some reason the ship appealed to me.

Patrickivan Ive download SU but still learning the ropes, it will be awhile.
