hi mate, tried yours too definitely nice to see different styles over more conventional trek designs. it took me a few models to get to grips with sketch-ups quirks and to start on what are for me 'projects'
which big lump on the saucer section? the big hanger underneath is kind of supposed to be ungainly in many respects as i was really trying to move the ship into workhorse territory rather then the elegant hero ship we always see on screen. with all those fancy ships getting half blown up every week some poor bugger has to go out there and carry the bits to fix them.
if you measure up that big hanger you will notice its just the right size to fit a defiant with room to spare.
although you may have to forgive me in that the model is currently upside down, it started out completely differently and was simply easier to carry on with that way round.
back onto yours and the inverness class (called raptor class in the model?), really digging the proportions and style. hope you carry on with the design. the 'straight arrow' aspect and the dark design certainly make things more interesting, side and rear profiles in particular are excellent in my view and i really hope you continue to work with the design.

here is a rendering programme that can work with sketch-up that improves the views massively

head half way down the page and check the sketch-up sections for a tuturial, it can take a little while to get your head round the lighting and what intensities are required but the results are 10x better then what sketch up shows.
i will try to upload some pics later of a earlier project of mine but i encourage any with sketch-up to try it out.
