My Pet Peeve

I always find it very annoying when someone is diseased, and the doctor says something like "He's got three hours, 17 minutes left!" same for when radiation will get lethal. And the stupidest about it is that if said person is saved just one minute before that time limit, he's perfectly alright. Apparently these doctors expect diseased people to simply drop dead at their predicted point.

It just bemuses me that one little detail in an entire fantasy world causes upset. I just sit back and enjoy it for what it is.

I may call it a pet peeve, but don't take it very seriously. I get upset for about 2 seconds and then go right back to enjoying. Well, except for this one time, when I decided it might inspire an interesting thread. Which it's done. :-)

MY pet peeve is ships shooting at each other in warp; that's absolutely impossible. It's like boxers punching each other in different time frames.
Impulse & thruster-only battles, please!

It would work with photon torpedoes, and with ships at warp strafing ships at impulse.

Though it is kind of weird... when you're in a warp chase scene, relatively speaking, seeing torpedoes travel forward the way they do makes sense, but if fired from a ship's aft launcher (re: being chased) torpedoes shouldn't even be visible! Maybe just a flash from the launcher and BOOM, impact on the chasing vessel.

Causing one to be upset for a few seconds despite everything around it being a-okay is exactly what a pet peeve is!

I love the human race and I think world peace is possible in a few generations. Despite that, I absolutely abhor people who don't use the turn signal in their cars. That's a pet peeve
