My oldest kid letter to Santa Clause

Jimilu

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
He just turned 8, and he wants a Mindstation (100 dollars), the Death Star Lego Set (400 dollars), a Ipod Touch (200 dollars), and 3 gifts for his hamster.
mmhhh, he likes scifi like his old man.

Wow, that's a lot. Also $400 for a Lego set! I remember them being expensive, but still!

I also love my ipod touch, but I think he is to young for that, in my experience, expensive toys are the worst for young kids. I have bought him robots, a control remote dinosaur, and he ends playing with a big cardboard box, or using his legos for hours. Besides i also have younger kids, and its very likely the will break a expensive electronic toy.

Of course i wont buy those gifts! I want them for me!

:guffaw:
I know this too well:

Man: I'm thinking of buying son a Wii for Christmas.
Me: But he wants a PS3.
Man: But I would like a Wii...

... and he ends playing with a big cardboard box, or using his legos for hours. ...

Again
When Robot Wars toys were all the rage and son had all the machines, I fashioned an arena out of a huge box and 10 years on it is still in the cupboard ~ currently used as an indoor exercise space for the cat that doesn't like snow:)

8 year old kids have cell phones these days, I doubt he's too young for an iPod, lol.

My oldest bought his own IPOD Touch when he was 8. (Saved all his gift money for while on that one) He's been ripping all my old classic rock CD's since.

When I was 8, I didn't even listen to my own music. I would have had no use for an iPod.

Yeah but it's different for kids growing up now. My cousin's been using a computer for several years now and he's ... 9? I'm not saying the kid needs an iPod, but there's more use for something like that than when we were young and happy with clunky gameboys and such.
