My NYC Photos 2005 - 2006

Hey, all...

I figured I'd post some of my photos from my first two vacations I took to NYC, for those who may at all be interested, lol. So, anyone who wants to... enjoy, lol.

I figure I'll post 5 a night.

When I took my trips, I didn't really actually use any taxis... everywhere I went, I either walked, or took the number 1 subway line.

For whatever reason we rarely get so see such pictures in mainstream media.. it's almost always some aerial photo, close shots of actors walking along or landmark buildings. Never the "real" streets.

Thanks for that and i'm looking forward to see them.

Oh, I love them! Fantastic photos, and please do post more! I've had a fascination with NYC since I was a teenager. I've visited once only for a day, so I only got to see Times Square, but it rocked my world-- I was so hyped that it's difficult to remember it clearly, if that makes sense.

Thanks, all. Tribbles, aye, one day is certainly not enough to experience NYC. Times Square is certainly impressive, but there is so much more. From the first time I set foot in NYC, I knew I had come home... to my true home. NYC never leaves you... it stays in your blood, and beckons you. There is no other place like it on Earth.

5 more tomorrow.

In reality, they are all in color, but I prefer black and white on an artistic level... I like the mood it conveys, and it also has the ability to highlight details in photos.

The Fantastic Four?

It's very cool to see somewhere I know that's normally full of color in just black & white. Believe it or not, I've notice more things about Times Square I've never seen before and I've been here my whole life.

Very nice! :bolian:

I had just graduated high school and was moving onto college the year these were taken. It seems so long ago lol. Even longer when you consider that times square has been highly altered since those pictures were taken. A good chunk of the roads has been closed down and the area has been turned into a pedestrian park.

EDIT: Also, for those who haven't gone I would suggest visiting Time Square in the winter time (around Christmas). There's something special about the Holiday Season in NYC.

Nice photos; good decision to do them in b&w. Nice timing, too -- I just got back from NYC last night!

Thanks, guys. Yeah, Christmas time is certainly the best time to experience Midtown Manhattan.

To convert the photos to black and white, I use Adobe Photoshop.

And don't worry... I certainly got out of Times Square, as you will begin to see as more photos are posted, lol.

I thought you used voodoo magic.

But what process did you use? Just a straight desaturation? By luminosity, lightness, or the average of the two? Did you adjust brightness/contrast at all? (It doesn't look like it.)

Inquiring minds want to know.

Very nice. I'd like to visit that city sometime.

However, the streets would look so much better without all these advertisements!
