My Dad's in Hospital...

In the last couple of days my father has been taken to a cardiac ward due to high blood pressure. He's actually doing OK and the doctors have (so far) not picked up on any serious circulatory and organ problems, but there's a possibility that he may have diabetes. While nothing terminal as of yet has been diagnosed it's still been a rough and disconcerting last couple of days.

I'm sorry to hear that, Ted. I hope it's not diabetes and that your dad gets better and can leave the hospital as soon as possible. Best wishes to you and your family. :)

Man i hope he's doing OK. A few months ago my dad was in the hospital for major surgery so i know how nerve wracking it can be.

Good luck to your Dad, Ted. Hopefully, they will have some behavioral changes or meds that will keep everything under control. Any idea when he's coming home?

Hang in there, motherfucker. There's nothing as disturbing in life as seeing a parent laid up in a hospital bed. They look like crap and they're basically helpless. It's pretty disturbing to see someone who used to be the Master of Your Known Universe laid so low.

I wish the best for you and your dad.

Yeah, having gone through such situations a few times, I have to say I agree. It's really fucking scary.

Still, hang in there and best wishes Ted. :techman::techman:

Your condolences are appreciated and welcome.

My dad's blood pressure has stabalized and it's likely that he's going to return this Monday (Thursday at the latest).

Glad to hear he's better. Take care of him and spend all the time with him your schedule allows.

Hubby's been taking time off lately for his parents. He's kinda spooked at the thought of something happening to either or both of them. Hubby's the oldest and the one with a medical background (pharmacist). Suddenly every week, one or the other has a medical appointment or lab work. They're strong, but neither could take another serious harm--his mom has almost no kidney function and yet no dialysis; his dad had DVT undiagnosed for 6 weeks with a badly swollen leg (they thought it was a spider bite).

Nice to hear he is going home.

I am going back home to Buffalo this weekend to visit my grandma. She isn't doing too well at all....her body is retaining water and she has water around her heart but they can't operate on her because she is now classified as a bleeder and she had a heart attack in April. She is very religious and prays to Jesus to help her every night....it's quite sad. My mom also told me she has dementia and that she introduces my mom as her (my grandma's) dead sister....she takes 22 different meds a day for various conditions and is constantly in pain. She wants to go home but the docs want to put her in a home, which my grandma DREADS. Her birthday is on Sunday and she still looks 20 years younger than she is. I haven't seen her for a long time and my mom isn't going to tell her I am coming so she will be thrilled and I hope her happiness makes her forget about her pain, even if it's for a few hours.

^^ Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. :( It's a shame that they won't let her go home; that's what happened to my Grandmother. I hope your visit brings her relief and happiness.

My dad's fine, no problems with his heart and lungs, but the drugs he's been given are making him weary. On the record he's 58.

Better weary than sick. I'm glad to hear that his heart and lungs check out. :bolian:
