My 1/350 Second Pilot Enterprise build.

Here is my Second pilot Version of the Enterprise as seen in Where no Man Has gone Before.
Gary Kerr helped me with the small details and correct coloring on the model.
I also have done several SPFX videos of the model in action.

It is on permanent display now at the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour in Ticonderoga.

Techniques and tools have come such a long way from the days when aspiring effects artists were limited to celluloid 8mm film cameras. Don't get me wrong, a lot of clever and impressive illusions could be achieved with them. But, when the filmmaker was usually dependent upon professional developing services, a person would not know for a week or more what they got and some labs would try to correct what they might assume to be a flaw, botching the final product. Now, all of this is in control of the artist and they can see the results moments after recording.

Alas, no, I never had the opportunity to make my own sequences back in the day. I didn't have access to a camera purchased by my father and they were just too expensive to purchase myself when I was still a teenager. But i learned of the trials and tribulations a childhood buddy experienced when he made his own "movies". It was an article printed in the 10th issue of Starlog", "How to Roll Your Own", that intrigued both of us. My friend was fortunate enough to have a mother willing to get him a camera.

How many hours work do you reckon went into the build? Nice to see where it's on display. Congratulations!

Many Thanks! Sincerely appreciate it!. As for the hours...? Not sure. I worked on in in between other projects. It required some investment in time however. As several windows had to be sealed up and sanded smooth on top of the usual seam removal.
