Must the Star Trek's original mission statement be changed.

Snarfies

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
And the original statement go's like this:

These are the voyages of the starship Discovery. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

For instance with an upgraded statement like.

These are the voyages of the starship Discovery. Its continuing mission: to explore muliple universes & parralel possibiities, to seek out new realities and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Or is there no statement.

Sure, then have the entire series written by mid-level eastern European bureaucrats.

Just make it more accurate
Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Discovey. It's on going mission to ferry diplomats, to check up on colonies and scientific expeditions, to defend the Federation and occasionally go where no man has gone before.

Not quite as poetic, I know.

The classic line is pretty inclusive. Everything thing and every place Discovery has or will have seen fits nicely into it.

All that extra stuff is needless obfuscation.

the Discovery is NOT on a 5 year mission like the Enterprise, why should their mission statement be the same?
Discovery's mission statement probably was more like 'to get that top secret new spore drive working and win that damn war with the Klingons for us'

I'd say this only applies to TOS, TNG, and ENT.

DS9 was a space station near Bajor. Voyager was trying to get home and charting whatever it could along the way.

I think Discovery will be an ever-changing situation dependent on the arc, where the characters are, and who comes into and out of the series.

These are the voyages of Science vessel Discovery and it's fake captain, a mutineer and a band of scientists who all somehow turned the ship into a battleship in the war against the Klingons, alternate universes and common sense. It's ongoing mission: to find some sense where there is none, to boldly return from where they went and to never go back there again.

You forgot to go on about the F word, Gene's Vision, and how dark the lighting is. It's in the "Don't Like Discovery Youtube Commenter's Welcome Kit"

They’ve made first contact with those spore things that made Saru trip hard and become a hippie. They’re also exploring another universe, something we’ve never seen before. They found the tardigrade and figured out it might be sentient. It just arc based instead of episodic meetings with a guest star with latex on their foreheads.

Stop being impartial and making sense! People get confused by that.

They’ve made first contact with those spore things that made Saru trip hard and become a hippie. They’re also exploring another universe, something we’ve never seen before. They found the tardigrade and figured out it might be sentient. It just arc based instead of episodic meetings with a guest star with latex on their foreheads.

Yikes, Discovery can hardly be credited for lack of latex the Klingons are dipped in it. Not even sure what is going on with Saru.

why? what's going on with him? he's still delicious.

but, one has to acknowlede there is an obvious difference between the DISCO make up design and the lazy alien-of-the-week-put-a-latex-vagina-on-their-forheads-and-they're-good-to-go designs of the 90s

Facts? Weird...
