Must See Summer Blockbusters...

Here's my list of movies that according to IMDB.com are set to be released from may through august,

May

X- men Origins Wolverine
Star Trek
Angels and Demons
Terminator Salvation

June

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

July

Public Enemies
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

August

GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra
Inglorious Bastards

Pretty thin movie release schedule. Might be a comedy or two in there I go see (Kristin bell has one coming out for example) but slim picking sthis year but what is coming out is likely to be pretty good.

Star Trek
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Terminator: Salvation
G.I. Joe
Transformers 2

What else???

What else would I even want to see? I'm not sure if I'll bother with G.I. Joe. I wasn't a big fan of the cartoon. However, I could have said the same thing about Transformers and I still went to see it because of the new Camaro in the film.

What I care about this summer:

Star Trek
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Terminator: Salvation
Angels & Demons
Transformers 2

I don't know how I forgot to list Inglourious Basterds and Harry Potter.

I was just watching a an IB clip today.

Here is the lowdown on summer movies that I will probably see....some I do have reservations about.

May 1

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (not super excited but will check it out)

May 8
Star Trek (the day can not come quick enough!!!!!!!!)

May 15
Angels & Demons (kind of excited due to the first one)

May 22
Terminator Salvation (should be wonderful)

May 29
Up (PIXAR - 'nuff said)
Drag Me To Hell (the Raimi factor)

June 12
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (I think this looks good...have not watched the original though)

June 26
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (hoping more robots less humans)

July 3
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (like the first two a lot)
Public Enemies (hopefully better than Michael Mann's last couple of movies)

July 17
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (will not miss!)

July 31
Funny People (can't wait...love both of Apatow's other movies)

August 7
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (not excited but will still check it out)

August 14
Final Destination 4 (I am a sucker for these movies)

August 21
Inglorious Basterds (WILL NOT MISS!!!!!!!!!!)

My big 2 are Star Trek and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, Terminator will be a situation like The Dark Knight and Quantum of Solace: I've had zero interest in the movies before it, but the trailers for this one looks really, really good and worth a blind-viewing.

I'm going to see Star Trek, Transformers and Harry Potter. Not sure about any of the rest.

Looks like I'll be seeing Star Trek at the start of the summer and Inglourious Basterds at the end. Pretty much my usual in-theater movie viewing volume. :bolian:

I'll wait for the reviews on Star Trek and Terminator before committing to seeing them, but they are about it for the short list along with Wolverine. In each case I'll have to see if they're just overhyped or if they're actually movies that will make me tolerate the theatre experience.

Now for the DVD's, pretty much certain that I'll end up getting these...
Watchmen, Star Trek, Terminator, Wolverine, Transformers 2, GI Joe, Harry Potter

But my wife and I have a hard time convincing ourselves that going to see a movie isn't just a waste of time given all the standard arguments about home theatre vs megaplex. We don't even put comedies/dramas on the list for going to the movies because they don't need the big screen for effects and sound.

i will be seeing Fast and Furious, Wolverine, Trek (although i increasingly care little about it), Terminator Salvation, Transformers 2, Ice Age 3 and GI Joe.

I'll definitely see:
Wolverine
Star Trek
Terminator Salvation
Year One
Public Enemies (Mann...nuff said)
Drag Me to Hell (Duh)
Transformers 2
GI Joe
Up (Based on the trailer I saw infront of Watchmen, I'm sold)
Final Destination 4
Inglorious Basterds
Halloween 2

I'm sure there will be a few others as well that aren't on my radar yet.
