Music at End of The Day of the Doctor

Hello,

What is the name of the musical theme that plays at the end of "The Day of the Doctor," when The Doctor is
talking to Tom Baker?

Thanks.

The more I watch the special, the more i am picking out a lot of new compositions. Many other ones are variations on 'I am the Doctor' and there are a few from 10's era (Unit theme, The Doctor forever, etc..) as well. I like the built up music from Hurt's regeneration, that is new because i can't find it in any of my soundtracks.

The music for the War Doctor's regeneration is The Sadman with a box from the season 5 soundtrack. There were far too many reused cues in the special, would have liked to have heard some new variations on that should have been in the episode i.e. Gallifrey

The impression I'm getting is that "The Day of the Doctor" went out with basically a temp music track. I know the budget was tight and Doctor Who, at least during the Moffat era, hasn't scored to the episode, but at least for a special episode like this they should have had a specially composed score spotted properly.

Thanks Mick! There are other new tracks in the special but they are very subtle so you don't always pick them up unless your listening for it. Murry Gold phoned this one in a bit IMO. Lets just hope the Xmas special has more new music.

Im sure if some fan has time they can list all the tacks in order played during the special LOL

Glad to be of help :D I agree it sounded as if DotD was relased with a temp music track, the Slitheen music at the beginning of the episode stuck out like a sore thumb for example. There was some new material but it was quite sparse.

I'm hoping there was a scoring session at some point for the Christmas Special, it would be very disappointing if Matt's regeneration was tracked.

Well, this was an anniversary story celebrating the show's past. Maybe the idea was to do a sort of "greatest hits" score? ;)

I think that's right. I cerainly saw the use of the 9th Doctor vintage London themes at the start as deliberately nostalgic.

I liked that they used the Dark And Endless Dalek Night for the Daleks invading Gallifrey, cos it's right that the metal bastards should have a proper march as a theme that recurs in their stories, but I would rather have heard non Wedding music for the regeneration...

What really annoyed me is the episode features Gallifrey, but we do not hear "This is Gallifrey" or any of the variations on it.

I sure hope that whenever the Doctor finds Gallifrey, the scene features the most epic, most over the top rendition of "This is Gallifrey" just to make up for it.

There was a subtle evocation of it for the Gallifreyan children, when the Moment asks the War Doctor if he ever counted them.

can anyone help... i think it's been mentioned on here before but i can't for the life of me find it:

does anyone know the title of the piece of music from the teaser trailer (the specially commissioned one featuring all the Doctors) and the artist/ production team who made it?

this is the trailer...

^^That's the show's opening theme, a special variation done for that trailer. I don't know specifically who did it, but I'd take a good guess it was probably Murray Gold.

It's of course a variation on the main theme, with 'I Am the Doctor' as a counterpoint. I remember reading that it wasn't Murray, but I can't for the life of me find the article or remember who did do it. :(

Does anyone know why they haven't been doing new music with MG? There didn't appear to be any in the Christmas Special either, they were even using S 1-4 music?

It's probably budgetary. Moffat and Marcus Wilson were operating on a tight budget and they could save money for filming and FX by not commissioning new music and recording sessions.

The casual and Not-We audience isn't going to care that they're hearing a temp track.

But it makes a soundtrack release pointless. And I would be disappointed, if we get a christmas special soundtrack all with recycled music.
That said, the Series 7 soundtrack is great and a good buy.
