As incredulous as the title may read, this bizarre "crossover" will take place upon the National Geographic Channel, 8 PM Eastern, 2014/04/01.
I know what your thinking, "Wait! 2014/04/01? That's April first! Sorry, Bill, we're not buying this ruse!"
I was doubtful as well when I read the short article at the "Satellite News" website, but someone provided a link to the Nat Geo website which has several preview video clips, such as this one...

As you can see and hear, Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy and Michael J. Nelson of RiffTrax, the on-line successor to "Mystery Science Theater 3000", will be providing irreverent commentary during a special titled "Total Riff Off". From the clips I gather there will be at least four different animals discussed and in time honored fashion, the three comedians will provide tongue-in-cheek observations about the intriguing facts of these creatures.
Obviously, this has been done with the cooperation of National Geographic, so I'm sure the trio's material was "reviewed" to avoid any, uh, misunderstandings and/or bruised egos. Never the less, the various clips do seem to "call back" the flavor of the short subjects "zinged" in the original series.
I may save this recording.
Sincerely,
Bill
