MSPaint.EXE Electronica

Link.

I accidentally did this awhile back... and I can't recall what .exe I tried to import to my media player at the time, but it was funny! Too bad I didn't understand the code more, because it'd be interesting to study it and see what kinds of executables produced what kinds of sounds.

Back when I had a 386 with a sound card in it, I would take random executables, images, etc. and put them through the command-line audio player just to see what would happen. It was usually screechy nonsense like this. Bits is bits.

Well, playing on the media player in that link there seems to be more than screeching. There is that of course, but at about the 30 sec point I hear something that seems more organized.

I'll guess those rhythmic noises correspond to a set of data, such as the icon graphics used in the main toolbar and drawing toolbar. The four 'notes' in the sequence would correspond with each icon appearing in four different sizes, for different screen resolutions.

If it's not the icons then it will be something similar. :)
