Whether it be upgrading formats or biting on all those DVD special edition re-releases, what are some of your most-bought titles?

For me off hand:

Top Gun -- DVD, Collector's Edition, HD-DVD (which was still unopened so I gave it away as a gift), Blu-Ray

Memento - The original R1 bare bones release, the better R2 release and then later a R1 special edition. I would buy a Blu-Ray release too.

Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Nemesis were all replaced with the 2-disc collector's editions. In addition, I had the first eight Star Trek films on VHS before I bought the DVDs.

The original Star Wars Trilogy. I had all three on mismatched VHS releases, then the final VHS release before the Special Editions came out, then I bought the Special Editions on VHS. I now have them on DVD.

The Matrix Trilogy - I had them on individual discs, including the "killer app" original release version of The Matrix before I replaced them with the Ultimate boxed set. I am considering the upcoming Blu-Ray release as well.

I have Independence Day on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray. I also have Robocop on VHS and DVD.

Strictly speaking, they are all out done by Blade Runner. I have the 1992 Director's Cut on DVD and the Blu-Ray five disc set containing the Final Cut, the 1992 cut, the original US and European releases and the workprint, making six copies of the film!

Star Trek: TWOK - VHS, DVD, and Director's Edition
Serenity - First release, and Collector's Edition.

That's about it for me.

I lost my original copy of Serenity so now I have the CE
I also mistakenly bought the fullscreen version of The Fountain so I had to buy it again widescreen . . . seriously the art direction in that movie can't be fully appreciated in 4:3
LOTR I had the original releases, then got the EE sets for all three

The original Star Wars trilogy is the only movie I've purchased more than twice: remastered VHS, fullscreen SE VHS, widescreen SE VHS, 4-disc DVD set, and limited edition 2-disc DVDs.

Pretty much if I had it on VHS I bought it on DVD. I could probably start my own video store.

I have bought a couple of DVD's over because of new features, but it's rare that I do that.

Movies that I will definitely buy a third time are Serenity and Top Gun. Of course I'll pick both of them up on Blu-ray.

I've double dipped too often but OT STAR WARS is the king: original VHS releases (at about $80 a piece), widescreen VHS, Definitive Edition Laser Disk, special edition widescreen VHS, Special Edition Laser Disk, 4 disk first DVD release, and the 6 disk 2nd DVD release.

Godfather I & II made it from VHS to DVD.

Trek: Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan, Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country in individual DVDs then part of the 9 disk Star Trek Movie Set that came out some years back.

Bond: Goldfinger, From Russia With Love, Thunderball, and Dr. No made the full journey from VHS to individual DVDs to part of The James Bond Ultimate Edition.

I'm also fairly certain I have Vertigo on VHS and twice on DVD (once purchased individually and once as part of a James Stewart set)

I have several films twice - mostly classic films that came individually and later as part of a set, or in a restored version. But a few more 'modern' Oscar winners which I have on VHS and then again on DVD, once DVD became popular.
