We haven't had one of these for a while, and I just finished a Trek movie marathon, so I thought I would post how I think they stack up and invite others to do the same. My format is a combo of my usual series breakdowns and star ratings.

Excellent
1: 5 Stars - First Contact
2: 5 Stars - The Wrath of Khan
3: 4.5 Stars - The Undiscovered Country

Good
4: 4 Stars - Insurrection
5: 3.5 Stars - The Voyage Home

Tolerable
6: 3 Stars - Nemesis
7: 3 Stars - The Search for Spock
8: 2.5 Stars - Generations
9: 2.5 Stars - The Motion Picture

Bad
10: 1.5 Stars - The Final Frontier

I realize that several of my choices go against TrekBBS consensus, but these are my honest choices.

Ummmm.... These movies have lost their luster for me which will make it much easier for ST XI to top or nearly top this list, but:

True, but I was just going for something cute, not necessarily accurate.

I know what you mean. I can easily switch the movies that I gave the same star ratings to. For example, I like Picard's crew better, but Spock's return is the better ending, so my Nemesis and The Search for Spock order can flip-flop depending on what aspect of the movie I care about more at the time.

I have an easy time just ranking the four TNG movies, or just ranking the six TOS movies, fluctuation or not, but whenever I combine the two for some reason my brain starts thinking, "this is too much!" and then it just doesn't want to rank them from #1 to #10.

Probably because I feel like I'm mixing two series and I get a signal in my head that says "incompatible!" Sort of like if I had to rank the seasons of muliple series instead of just one.

It will feel even stranger once ST XI is thrown into the mix, then it'll start feeling like three movie series passed off as one. If that makes sense. Similar to Bond. I can rank Bond actors, or the movies each actor has done, but put together all the movies each of the actors did then I pause.

Just my way of adding something new to the thread if no one minds.

I gotta say, in spite of it being the classic that I've heard many, many people express love for, I'm surprised that The Motion Picture is showing up in the bottom half to bottom quarter of almost all the lists.

Thats how I feel about it. The Final Frontier is Terrible. So is Insurrection.
