Most Powerful Mob Movie "Hit"

So yeah, they're all powerful. That's the point... to show who's got the power

But in my mind at least, the most ruthless & powerful murder ever perpetrated on a mob family in all tv & movie history was committed by the least likely person of all

Kay Corleone: "I didn't want your son, Michael! I wouldn't bring another one of you sons into this world! It was an abortion, Michael! It was a son Michael! A son! And I had it killed because this must all end!"

Gotta admit. I doesn't get much more ruthless than killing your own unborn child just to kill the Don's unborn son. Popping Joe Pesci in the back of the head or filling James Caan full of bullets can't hold a candle to that. Hell, even Michael putting down his own brother pales in comparison

It's not a movie but Livia Soprano attempting to engineer a hit on her son for putting her in a nursing home would be number one in my book.

Props to the Sopranos. In fact, all crime related hits can be included, not just specifically Mafia

Like Sean Penn taking out Tim Robins in Mystic River, for example

This one brought tears to my eyes the first time I was the movie.

Not a movie, but the hit in Breaking Bad's "Salud" was pretty fucking badass. Of course, you knew back in "Hermanos" that Gus' dealings with the Mexican Don weren't going to end well. I knew something was in the box, but when everybody started keeling over and then Mike comes out of nowhere and strangles the dude with the piano wire. Pretty good hit, there!

I think Michael ordering the death of his brother Fredo in Godfather II is pretty hard to top for emotion. Admittedly Fredo had been complicit in the plot to kill Michael but the way that Michael lies to him and then sanctions Fredo's murder is so cold-blooded.

And it shows that Michael, once the man who wanted to take his family away from crime ('I never wanted this for you Michael' his father told him in the previous movie) has now committed the ultimate, oldest crime and is beyond redemption (shitty efforts to do so in III notwithstanding).

Indeed. Probably one of the more brutal hits in Sopranos though was the hit Tony put on the guy(s) who shot-up Chris. For unexpected and more notable "clean up": Janice and Richie Aprile.

She knew it was coming, despite his matter of fact demeanor, but she had to just sit there during that whole car ride while he pretended to be taking her to the hospital. You also had the normally avuncular "Miami Steve" suddenly turn vicious, dragging her out of the car and shooting her in cold blood while she wailed and crawled on her knees.

I bet you Michael never had to say anything after that. The point was clear from that statement. When mom's gone... so is Fredo. So cold to order a hit by reverse wording it like that. Too crass to just say "Kill him, only after my mother is gone"
