Mortal Kombat vs. DC

I've been playing the X-box 360 version. I've won on both sides-the superheroes and the Mortal Kombat guys. It said I unlocked Shao Kahn or whatever his name is. I also unlocked Darkseid when I beat it on the Superhero side. I expected to see them as playable characters, but don't see them on the list. What is going on?

Is this game any fun? I always stuck by the rule if there are multiple copies of a game on the used shelf the game sucks and so far that rule has proven true. I started seeing tons of this game on the used shelf right after it came out and never bothered to get it.

I don't play video games that often, but got a hankering to play last week since I never fully mastered the game.

Defeating both sides of the game doesn't take very long. There is story mode and arcade mode. The Story mode has a super side and a Mortal Kombat side-you choose when you start. Arcade mode allows you to choose to fight just Mortal Kombat characters or Superheroes or mixed. You can also fight against another player choosing any character you like except Darkseid and Shao Kahn who must be unlocked first.

I really like the game, but I'm not a hardcore player. Some people only play a game until they defeat it and then they sell. You can probably find lots of copies of about anything. I enjoy seeing the flash in action, or beating someone down with Superman. Having Captain Marvel fight Superman is fun for me. I'm not really into it for the Mortal Kombat guys. I really enjoyed Darkseid as a player.

The fatalities have been reduced for the game. They are toned down. That may disappoint you if you want maximum carnage for your Mortal Kombat guys. They do have blood and touches like battle damage-ripped uniforms and cuts on the skin. I also find the fatalities incredibly hard to do. Superheroes have them, but they are called Heroic Brutalities and don't really kill the other guy.

Is it just me or is this game fucking hard--all mortal kombat games, in fact?

I've pretty much beat SFIV, and have done pretty well in all games in that franchise. I just...suck at mortal kombat. I can't get the timing right or something.

Regardless. This game is awesome. I love geeking out Hal Jordan vs Capt. Marvel--getting my ass-kicked most times, but I still do okay against my girlfriend.
