Based on the novel of the same name by Phillip Reeve, Mortal Engines is produced by Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson, and directed by Jackson's long time friend and collaborator Christian Rivers. Jackson also co-wrote the scrip with regular co-writers Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens.
    Cast:
    Hera Hilmar as Hester Shaw
    Robert Sheehan as Tom Natsworthy
    Hugo Weaving as Thaddeus Valentine
    Jihae as Anna Fang
    Ronan Rafferty as Bevis Pod
    Leila George as Katherine Valentine
    Patrick Malahide as Magnus Crome
Stephen Lang as Shrike (a CGI character)
    Colin Salmon as Chudleigh Pomeroy
    Rege-Jean Page as Captain Khora
    Leif Sigurdarson as Nils Lindstrom
    Mark Hadlow as Orme Wreyland
    Sophie Cox as Clytie Potts
    Aaron Jackson as Gench
    Stephen Ure as Pewsey
    Kee Chan as Govenor Kwan
    Mark Mitchinson as Vambrace

    Trailer:

I haven't read the book, but I'm a big fan of Peter Jackson, and the trailers look awesome.

Sounds like it's going to fizzle out like the "Mazerunner". It looks really cliche

    From

    - Post apocalyptic wasteland
    - Last of our kind
    - Chosen one female chick who is broken and has a love interest that helps her overcome it
-Being forced to runaway mid way through the movie and coming back with some rebel's who know what's going on.

    Even the dialogue sounds hokey
"Nothing can stand in the face of this!"

It's a parody of every YA movie made so far

I found the teaser very intriguing, mainly just because it had a city on wheels. It's hard not to be impressed by a city on wheels. But the full trailer didn't really live up to that promise with the dialogue, acting and plot all seeming pretty weak.

Looks very interesting but while I don't know the story I feel the trailer gave away too much.

The only response I have to this is: Read the novels.

Like he did with the LotR and Hobbit films, Peter Jackson and his team, including director Christian Rivers, have faithfully captured the essense and spirit of Phillip Reeve's Mortal Engines Quartet and its setting and very faithfully adapted the plot of the first novel.

That featurette was great. December can seriously not get here quick enough for me, because I don't think I've been this excited for a non-comics-based movie in a long time.

Very keen for this movie series!

Have read all the books and associated prequel stories (although there’s technically X1 outstanding book to come, in the Fever Crumb quartet...) and am looking very forward to seeing the first movie (which incidentally is filmed in my home city of Wellington, New Zealand!) :D

    Can’t wait!

I'm interested in this but now that I have seen this trailer and oops sorry for posting another thread. Sorry mod people, but after seeing this I want Peter Jackson to do a Dishonored movie.

Also this made me want to watch John Carter again because as soon as I saw the city with those tiny legs that's what I thought of.

Also the dialogue does feel hokey

I still don't like that Hester is still reasonably pretty. She's not pretty at all in the books

Unattractive heroic book characters are rarely ever unattractive in the adaptations.

I know.... I'd love someone one day to take a risk and do a future book / movie on any story and make it more faithful where there are characters who are not so pretty. Not this story itself but you know what I mean.
