Morn no more?

DS9forever

Commodore
Commodore
I was reading Lust's Latinum Lost (and Found) and was wondering where Morn was. I had forgotten that in Revelation and Dust he hadn't been in Quark's and paid off his bar tab.

Is Morn no more?

I liked that detail in Revelation and Dust. Morn is such a fixture that his absence is rather disconcerting. It leaves a slight sense of solemnity to the new set-up, a reminder of what was lost. I'm assuming this will probably be followed up on at some point, as a D-plot in the ongoing DS9 story, part of the continued characterization of Quark as a much more "zen" and compassionate being than he was (I still love Trier's comment in Lesser Evil, about how he might not have changed but simply allowed himself to be what he always was). The whole "Quark is quietly worried about Morn" thing is a nice touch.

But maybe it won't be followed up on, other than an occasional "I miss Morn, wonder where he is?" thought from Quark. Maybe Morn will indeed just disappear into the galactic masses and not be seen again. Donning his hat, he wanders out of the saloon and off into the lonely sunset. And the second Deep Space Nine, though bigger and better and shinier, will never quite be "right" for some...

People do tend to turn up. Wesley in cold equations for example, or Guinan in the one with the Challenger (And both of them were at the Picard-Crusher wedding in Greater Than the Sum,
although not there in the Q book
)

Hopefully we'll see Morn again at some point, perhaps
he's joined Wesley travelling the universe, seeking out new life and new civilisations to pass his stories too.

I think that they hinted at him having survivors guilt over the destruction of the station and that's what led to his leaving.
I hope he will walk come back into the bar at a moment when things otherwise look bleak for Quark. What better omen is there for Quark than that. In the mean time, I'd like to assume he's off doing high level intelligence gathering for Starfleet.

Oh my god. I was wrong, it's not Patrick. Morn is Control! Control is Morn!

:p

Maybe he's off spending all of the latinum he hid in his second stomach.
