Didn't want to put the headline in the title as it could be a big deal in some ways.

I think this strongly hints at Discovery being thrown far into the future as a way to explain the issues people have with continuity/timelines etc.

Any other ideas as to what they may mean by an "unexpected ending that changes everything"?

I saw this earlier! I happen to agree that it'll be flung into the far future. I won't miss the arguments about continuity or people being up in arms about any tech introduced in the future of the series.
