Moebius Models announces second ship model in Kelvin model series...U.S.S. Kelvin!

The model is about 11", at 1:1000 scale.

So the Kelvin is around 280 meters long?

If I did that math right.

"Starcrafts" made a decent Kelvin. It's not their fault I putzed up the decal sheet.

If I remember right, this wouldn't be the first KT kit whose marked scale seemed to indicate they were going with the TOS-size scaling and not the big sizes that were ultimately settled on.

It can't be 1:1000 at 11 inches. The Kelvin is 1,500 feet (457.2 meters). So the model would have to be 18 inches (45.72cm) long to be 1:1000. Hmmmm. I would definitely prefer an 18 inch model over an 11 inch one.

Or this is another case of a ship being upscaled from the original designs.

The company here may have been given the wrong numbers.

The Revell Into Darkness Enterprise had the wrong scale on it, I think it worked out to 288 meters or thereabouts (smaller than the actual original design scale IIRC)

That would make the ship USS TARDIS.

That's all fine and dandy, but you know WHAT? I don't personally want it to be that big so it isn't. Head canon overrules official canon, ya know? Yes, yes, in a world where you beam people hundreds of miles, travel at warp speeds, cure death with magic blood, a ship just the same size as the 1701-D (which I had no problem with then, so why do I have a problem with this?) is just beyond the pale! Also, bridge windows, UGH! :D
