Official details released;

The first details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have been revealed.

Multiple sources have told Kotaku that the game will be released on November 8, as previous rumours have suggested.

Following on moments after the events of Modern Warfare 2, the game's story will see players travel the world as both returning and all-new characters, including a Russian agent, SAS operative and AC-130 gunner.

The 15-mission-long campaign will start with an invasion of Manhattan by the Russian army, and later cover Dubai, London, Paris, India and Sierra Leone.

Story presentation similar to previous games in the series, with short story sequences and regular cuts to new locations. Playable vehicular segments will include tanks and an AC-130 gunship.

Co-operative mode Spec Ops will return with two mission types, Survival and Mission, while the online multiplayer component will feature a "chunky list" of maps.

The title has been co-developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software, with the game largely complete and finishing touches now being applied.

While Activision has yet to officially announce the game, it recently told investors that a new Call of Duty title would be revealed in the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, Modern Warfare 3's logo and cover art were reportedly leaked, as well as suggestions of destructible environments.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is expected for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Modern Warfare 3 plot/details leaked (spoilers)

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/13/c...ons-characters-and-multiplayer-maps-revealed/

apparently spec ops mode will return, the SP plot follows on from MW2 and includes missions across the world including Mogadishu, India, Paris, London and Russian-occupied New York...

player characters include an SAS trooper and a Russian Presidential bodyguard.

if you visit the kotaku link, you can find an article which spoils the whole plot, including that Soap and Price are involved.

Still trying to decide if I'm going to get this or not. After most of Infinity Ward left to follow West and Zampella to Respawn, I said Black Ops was going to be my last Call of Duty, just because I wanted to give Treyarch a chance, and Black Ops turned out to be somewhat disappointing. But I don't really want to leave the MW1/MW2 storyline left unresolved. So I suppose whether or not I get this will depend upon reviews.

I suspect that I'll end up getting it.

I want to see how the serial storyline ends, and it does sound alright from the details released/leaked.

Of course it'll all be dependent on the reviews as you say. Ordinarily I wouldn't have thought that things would change drastically in between MW2 and MW3, but with the amount of upheaval, who knows what the effect on the final game will be....

Right. And apparently there are like three different groups all working on separate sections of the game (or maybe it's just two). EA tried that tactic with the Medal of Honor reboot, and that didn't turn out so hot.

Yeah - IW and Sledgehammer are working on the SP campaign, but the real concern is whether Raven are up to pulling off the MP side of the game.

I'll at least give them a chance. The only way they'd have instantly turned me off would have been if DICE had been doing it!

translations of the Russian spoken at the end.

America Teaser: "One. Destroy the enemy's hope for victory."
England Teaser: "Two. Use all your advantages."
France Teaser: "Three. Take advantage of the weakness of your enemy."
Germany Teaser: "Four. Attack from an unexpected direction."

sounds a bit Sun Tzu...

I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer, so if the SP and the Spec-Ops sections are cool, then I'll be happy.

After Black Op's my interest in the franchise has cooled off seriously. Non co-op online play has limited interest to me so the game falls or lives on SP/Spec ops for me and I can wait several months into 2012 + Price cut before i even bother with the game.

The only fault I find with this whole series is I don't have a clue what the story is that is trying to be told.

MW1 - Russian dude doing bad things and selling nukes to arabs. US invades Middle Eastern Country, nuke goes off. SAS team enters Russia and fighting with one side in an apparent Russian Civil War. Shoots bad guy at the end. The whole story flowed and made sense.

MW2 - I still don't know what the heck is going on and I have played it a bunch of times. An American general is really a traitor with the SAS on his tail. American sent to hang with a bunch of terrorist, shoots up airport, gets killed US Invaded. US Invasion is pretty stupid as I just don't see how the Russians would even be able to hide something like this and I don't believe Russia would invade the US just because they found a dead American at an airport massacre. Heck in MW1 we had C-130s flying over Russia and blasting things apart along with the SAS team killing Russians left and right and they didn't seem too upset about that.

MW3 - Read the potential plot spoilers - Even more confused at how everything ties together.

I wish they printed a book so we knew what the deal was with all three games.

Its clear they care little about the story and yeh after MW1 it becomes a right mess. I expect little story in the 3rd one for more OTT action a pity because COD 4 found a good balance between story n action IMO.

Well, no matter how incoherent the MW story has become, it's still more interesting than Black Ops AND THE NUMBERS!!1!!!!!1!!

I'll probably end up getting it just to get closure on the 'story'line (natch) from the previous two MW games. It'll also be interesting to see if with this array of international locations that we'll get to play from a lot of different perspectives (i.e. European armies etc.) or will we be playing as magic teleporting American soldiers most of the time (though we will be probably playing as Soap/Price for at least a good bit of the game).

I skipped out on getting Black Ops and to be honest, I don't think I really missed out. I played a bit of the SP campaign at a friends, and it seemed confused, the multiplayer seemed samey to MW2 and I'm not too fussed about more zombies.

from what i read on Kotaku, you play as multiple characters:

SPOILERS!!

Russian Presidential bodyguard
SAS soldier in London
US Army tank gunner in Germany
AC-130 gunner in France
Delta trooper in New York
Yuri, an associate of Nikolai's with Soap and Price
and i think at least one other US soldier.

To me the numbers were interesting because I wanted to know what was going on with them. I enjoyed Black Ops story. I pretty much just play MW just to say I played it because I sure as heck aint buying it for the story.
