Modern Warfare 2 Website Up + New Trailer

It's apparently "cold war", so I'm sure it'll be... I dunno... Afghanistan happened in the 70s too, right?
It would fit in the the Call of Duty franchises MO; have different theaters in different places from different countries point of view

It'd certainly be interesting if they did a Call of Duty game set in Afghanistan where you play on the Afghan side.

Modern Warfare 2 is set in Russia/Afghanistan and Brazil  (on last one )

So Treyarch is going to continue making Call of Duty games? Eh, it could be worse. I seem to be one of the few who thought CoD3 was decent, and WaW was pretty good, too (though still clearly inferior to CoD4). I wonder if they'll do another WWII game, because the idea behind WaW was sort of an "end of the war" theme. Going back to it after that would be a little odd.

its rumoured to be vietnam

Highly likely that it IS Vietnam. Last I heard, a few weeks ago, Treyarch were busy buying up rights to Vietnam-era music.

As a fanatic, I monitor all I can re: COD and this is what I'm getting, too. And having dug into the history of the war-there's a lot more potential there than you might think.

Given how safe the franchise has been, you'd probably end up playing a Russian in that instance.

How would that be safe ? The Soviet Union were the aggressors.

Yeah, but can you imagine playing a game where you essentially play Osama bin Laden?
People are morons, I can't see that going well in any context.

I mean, it's about time that they make a CoD with a German perspective... which is still daring but safe as well, and they didn't have the balls to touch that either.

i want CoD: Korea, CoD: Falklands and CoD: Desert Storm.

mind you, I'd also like a CoD WWII featuring Norway, Greece, more of Italy than UO gave us, China, Burma and some resistance stuff...

MUST HAVE NOW. I'm sick of killing world war 2 era people, time to get current.

I thought COD4 was awesome but skipped on WAW. Even though it's just a trailer, this game still looks incredible.

WAW was actually pretty well done, I thought. I can understand people's reluctance to play it because it was done by Treyarch (I'm one of those who actually liked CoD3), but I enjoyed it. Its biggest weakness was that it lacked a real cohesive storyline because the missions were spread out across the majority of the war. And there were some technical glitches. But overall I thought it was a big improvement over CoD3.

That's a shame because WaW was actually pretty good. It used the same engine as CoD4; so it was basically CoD4, but set in WWII.

CoD4 MP is essentially the reason I got an xbox, it's completely unrivalled and eclipses Halo.

I consider it to be the best multiplayer game ever. Not that's it's not without it's faults (grenade spam anyone?) but it's still head and shoulders above the competition. It's an intangible that I can't quite put my finger on, but there's something about that particular interface and style that for me it just eclipses any other online game I've tried.

There are plenty of other games that have come out since COD4 where I've thoroughly enjoyed the single player experience, (like Resistance 2 for example) but the online multiplayer just isn't the same.

Looking forward to MW2 of course-the videos look amazing and all but I fear a GRAW approach to the weapons. Don't want them all complicated, y'know? Just want to point and shoot, not consult a super-hi-tech HUD and crap like that.

I think the fancy attachment we saw in the E3 demo was just for that level only, because the blizzard made it so hard to see the enemy. Knowing Infinity Ward, I'm sure they'll keep things simple.
