"Twilight and her friends are honored to put on Canterlot's most important play of the season: the Hearth's Warming Eve's holiday pageant that illustrates how Unicorns, Pegasi, and Earth Ponies put aside their differences and founded Equestria."

I know, it's been awesome so far, Derpy on the train, waving from backstage and up in the balcony.

That was an awesome episode. The characters of the ponies fit really well with the roles they were playing. There were so many hilarious scenes, gags and references in it. And the end was just heart-warming. I even teared up a little. A+

It was a great episode, they steered sort of clear of a lot of fanon etc and followed up the Twilight Sparkle game nicely.

I loved all the little moments, Derpy was in the episode at least 4 times counting the credits.

Pinkie, Fluttershy and AJ got a lot of screentime this episode, really missed that.

So, they founded Equestria and discovered Harmony because of the snow demons, but Celestia and Luna are on the flag at the end, but the Unicorns brought day and night in their land, so the sisters did not rule or control the day until much later, probably after Discord discovers and terrorises the new land first.

And yay, Starswirl reference.

That was very gentle on fanon. I'm kind of surprised; I was expecting something a lot more revelatory. I still want to know where the royal sisters came from!

I'll need to rewatch it later, but was that Doctor Whooves standing behind Derpy when she poked her head out of the curtain early on?

^Nope, he was a darker brown with black hair and another cutie mark.

The flag reveals the same graphic from Twilights book, and Luna was aware of Starswirl, who is Twilight's character's mentor therefore both are around at this point.

It could even be that the Alicorns lived somewhere else altogether, and that only Tia and Luna chose to live with the other Ponies at all, moving from community to community creating the legend, before settling with the majority of them to rule Equestria after Discord ruins the land.

That was a beautiful episode. I know I'm going to love sharing it with my nieces on Monday. Further, I'd love to know what the original flag of Equestria looked like. Somehow I don't think the two pony sisters were on it.

A

I might need to watch this again...it was good...but kinda strange...still good...Pinkie was terrific. :D

Yup! the whole cast got a chance to shine this week and their little roleplay was brilliant. And not too specific that we can't still work some story around it ourselves, plus *lots* of Derpy :D

What a wonderful episode! See, I can't watch it until it's on Youtube, but I make up for it by visiting the HUB website and looking at the banner ads.
Anyhoof, great episode! Loved it, felt all warm and tingly, it had the right atmosphere, and watching Fluttershy kept making me giggle. :D

A+

As I said before, it looks like the Alicorns lived away from the mortal Ponies tribes, probably tired of all their fighting and bitching, taking care of the day and night where they were.

It's only after Discord happened across the newly formed Equestria and nearly massacred ponykind that Tia and Luna agreed to rule and releive the tensions between the tribes, but somewhere along the line, Luna becoming corrupt possibly because of interaction with the last vestiges of the tribal fueds and being influenced by it at such a young age.

It looks like the fans are having fun trying to fill in the blanks on Ponibooru. I tend to agree with the assertion that the current flag of Equestria was only a prop.

It wasn't a prop, if you look closely the colours of the two Ponies don't match Tia and Luna, implying older Alicorns, the picture above and my theory still fit as does the current canon.

With Princess Candence and Prince Shining Armour appearing in "The Last Roundup" we'll be seeing more of their (Celestia's) family, we'll get a better idea then.

Fantastic episode. See, this is what we need. More plot episodes and less "pony becomes a jerkass for 20 minutes" episodes. I'll give this a solid A.

Although, one niggling question remains. If they defeated the snow dragons, then way did they still form Equestria? They could have just returned to their old homes with all that nice infrastructure already in place.

While not as awesome as "Lesson Zero" or "Mysterious Mare Do-Well," this was another solid episode. Pinkie Pie nearly stole the show as Chancellor Puddin'head and the Derpy cameo was fantastic. It was a nice, enjoyable episode all around.
