"After seeing her five friends enjoying a day in the park with their pets, Rainbow Dash decides to get one of her own and turns to Fluttershy for advice. She sets up a series of contests to help narrow down the field of flying creatures, but her plans go awry when Fluttershy insists that a tortoise be allowed to compete."

I know, late with this one but with everything lately I forgot...

I loved it and gave it an enthusiastic "A". Her pet choice was pretty obvious (though I had some doubts), but it was fun seeing her get to that point. I also loved seeing the turtle in sunglasses when Dashie said her pet had to look "cool".

I enjoyed it, but the pacing was pretty terrible. I also didn't buy Rainbow Dash's panic when she was trapped in the canyon -- your friends know where you are! Worst case scenario is that you'll be there for an hour or two.

I'll go with a C.

Well, to be fair, Dashie doesn't like to appear weak. I think the prospect of embarrassment made her panic more than simply being trapped.

It's something between A and B for me. I loved the pets and thought that Tank was the coolest from the start. I laughed or chuckled a lot during the episode. A bit of a filler episode but a very enjoyable one.

The duet was simply awesome, and the little cameo just made it more so

It was obvious Tank was going to win, but seeing how we got there was the fun part, Dashies fear of being left out, appearing weak and facing up to her element of Loyalty were all well done.

A solid episode, and I know the pacing can be off, but again its the problem of a 45 minute storyline potential having to be told in half of that.

I feel like it's very much the inverse – lately we've been getting episodes that don't even have 22 minutes worth of story, so they're padding them out with repetitious scenes that reiterate something already established. And they ignore opportunities to add little side plots or character-building scenes that would fill the running time with something more substantive than "Rainbow Dash watches animals race, scene #5."

I know, the opener and the Luna episode felt rushed, but the others have been padded, its really not packing the same content as Season 1.
