Sounds like his shtick. I'm sure glad I don't have to listen to that drivel every game.

Puig doesn't fear the pirate horde.

Oh, fuck off with that shit. Archer was pissed that Dietrich pimped a home run earlier in the game, and so he threw behind his head. That's more unwritten rules bullshit.

Pitchers get to chirp and strut around the mound after they strike a guy out, and no one raises an eye. If a guy takes you deep, you let him do his thing. You don't throw at his head.

Zackly! To quote John Smoltz, "The way to stop him from struttin's after a homer is - don't give up the homer."

Yeah, I'm really sick of this pitcher retaliation shit for hitting a home run. What are you, ten years old? Grow the fuck up.

I'm shocked Archer wasn't thrown out.

I’m surprised that the same thing didn’t happen in this afternoon’s Yankees-Orioles contest, which saw the former mash seven home runs en route to winning 15-3. I guess the O’s are smart enough to realize that having a terrible roster means taking beatings on a regular basis.

Why is Puig starting fights on the field any more acceptable than Archer throwing behind Dietrich?

It's not, normally. But if Puig got drilled because somebody else hit a home run, then IMO it's okay to charge the mound. In the past, pitchers never took out their frustration on anybody except the guy who caused the frustration. Also, in the past, pitchers had to come to bat and be the target, too. A great deterrent.

Archer threw behind his butt. Still not good and he should've gotten tossed, but if he did hit Dietrich, it would've been on the soft part :alienblush:

Puig is still a punk, always looking for trouble.

But that's the thing. Puig was not hit by a pitch, nor did he charge the mound. He just went after a bunch of Pirates on the field after the fight had already started.

That is Puig's true colors showing. He's always been something less than a mental giant. He seems to like the taste of his bat.

Cold comfort when that ball's rocketing toward your "soft part" at 90+ mph.

I never said it was right, just correcting the "behind his head" part.

Puig stood up for his teammate’s right to pimp the shit out of a home run and not get hit with a fastball in retaliation. A true comrade.

Actually, I'm not a Cub fan. That image is everywhere ad nauseum. I am actually a Cardinals and Braves fan in the National League (30 years in Atlanta and the Cardinals was my first Little League team) and Yankees (The Mick was my boyhood idol) and White Sox in the American League.
