Which is really pissing me off because I was just saying a week ago how much I hated how the game has become so dependent on home runs over working the bases.

Speaking of which, Almora Jr. is damn lucky on that ivy call because that was some seriously bad base running on his part. hell, I'm surprised they even made that call considering how the Dodgers outfielder retrieved the ball so quickly despite raising his arm as per park rules. Not that it matter since the Cubs stranded both him and Avila.

In the regular season, the Cubs scored the most runs of any team in the NL that doesn't have a stadium a mile above sea level. In the postseason, they've scored fewer runs than the Diamondbacks, despite playing in four more games than Arizona.

    That's...depressing.

Hopefully they'll turn it around tonight. Time for the Cubs to pull a 2004 Red Sox! Dave Roberts will never see it coming. ;)

Where would they rank if you removed the home run from the equation?

Well. I guess it didn't matter Joe Maddon didn't put Wade Davis in to face Justin Turner in Game 2. :(

Why the hell did they rule that a foul ball? Grandy never made contact!

Especially considering they weren't allowed to review the play, despite it playing on the big screen.

An awful reversal. I don't blame Maddon for being so damn mad. I was pissed, too.

Kershaw starting tomorrow; Dodgers need to end this behind him. I can't help but think Roberts didn't take game 4 seriously, using washed up guys all at once. Granderson?

I only caught highlights this morning, but Contreras pimping his moonshot and taking like 30 seconds to get around the bases was amazing.

    Top of the 3rd, L.A. 7 - Cubs 0 (0 runs, 0 hits).

Stick a fork in 'em, they're done.

....and the Dodgers win the NL pennant.

Thanks in no small part to Enrique Hernandez' three Home Runs (first Dodger to do so in a postseason game).

Even Yankee haters have to admit that a Yankees - Dodgers WS would be exciting. Think of all the history between the teams. Plus the never ending antagonism between L.A. and NYC.

I'm sorry the Cubs lost the NLCS, but I'm glad they lost to this Dodgers team. They're an excellent club all round, from the batting and the fielding to the starters to the relievers. And they all seem like great people.

The Dodgers have my support in the World Series, especially if they're facing the damn Yankees.

Speaking of Enrique Hernadez's home runs, does anyone know if any player has ever hit a solo, two-run shot, three-run shot, and grand slam all in one game in the regular season? Hernadez just needed the three-run shot to hit that mark tonight.

It certainly would be more exciting than a National League World Series. :p

Still hoping the Astros can pull it out in the ALCS but I'm starting to think we're gonna get the Dodgers/Yankees World Series that both Fox and MLB probably really, really want.

If that ends up being the case...go Dodgers.

Nah, fuck the Yankees. I'd much rather see the Astros get in, since Altuve is basically a baseball demigod and that team is a lot of fun to watch, and it would be neat to see them go best-of-seven against the best team in baseball.

But that won't happen if the bats don't wake up.

Man would it be great if Vin Scully would call even an inning of the World Series.

Dusty Baker out as Manager of the Nationals. The pitchers say thank you!

On one hand, he's gotten them further than anyone else, so a little surprising. On the other hand, yeah, the pitchers can breath a collective sigh of relief, unless they bring in Terry Collins and/or anyone from the Mets staff.

Does anybody besides me wonder what’s said in meetings where someone is fired?
